Chapter 574: I am her guardian, what’s wrong with that?_1
Nathalie Quinlan didn’t really care; she just gave the woman one look then leisurely withdrew her gaze, approached Nancy Sullivan, held back the disdain on her face, and politely said, "Mr. Sullivan."
"You’re here?" Nancy Sullivan rubbed her head, her voice tinged with a headache, "I didn’t want to call you, but..."
The situation had become such a mess that Wenny Taylor even had her parents come over.
Since Wenny Taylor’s parents were members of the parent committee, her mother kicked up a fuss in the parent group, causing many parent committee members to follow suit and rush to the school, demanding an explanation from them.
She never anticipated Wenny Taylor to be so cunning.
Now, they had no choice but to have Nathalie Quinlan come over.
Before she could finish, Nathalie Quinlan already had a good idea of the situation, pressed her shoulder, and looking somewhat reassuring, said with lowered eyelashes, "I know, Mr. Sullivan, you don’t need to explain to me."
"So it’s you who fights with others outside of school, leaving them disabled, bullies my daughter within the school, forms cliques, and isolates other students?"
The woman, who had been ignored, turned dark with anger and raised her voice to question again.
"Where are your parents? Are you here alone? Does your family not care about you?"
Amadeus Yancey had his hands in his pockets, a notably irritating demeanor. From the moment he entered, he’d been deliberately refraining from exuding his presence. Now he half-squinted his eyes, looking at the loud woman, and declared, "I am her guardian. What about it?"
The moment Mr. Jones, the principal, saw him, he felt a headache coming on. Why on earth did this guy have to come to the school too? Wasn’t this just looking for trouble?
He could only hope that today’s issue would be resolved properly, otherwise... whether he could remain the principal of No. 1 Middle School was another matter.
"You’re her guardian?"
The woman with the curled hair scrutinized him with disbelief, "So young? Don’t tell me you’re someone she’s found from outside of school to pretend to be her guardian."
It had been a long time since anyone talked to Amadeus Yancey in this tone; he found it somewhat refreshing and his eyebrows lifted, a look of interest on his face.
The principal, fearing Amadeus would get angry, hurried to explain, "Wenny Taylor’s mom, this gentleman here is indeed Nathalie Quinlan’s custodian. I’ve met him before."
"He really is that girl’s custodian?"
Lina Ullmer still wasn’t quite convinced, giving Amadeus Yancey a few more skeptical glances, then reluctantly, to save the principal’s face, said, "Alright then. Since the principal has said so, I’ll take him for Nathalie Quinlan’s custodian. Now that the student herself is here, and the custodian is here, shouldn’t the school give us an explanation for her breaking the school rules?"
"This matter..." Mr. Jones took a quick glance at the man standing silently to the side and said, "This situation has not been fully investigated yet. Moreover, we just called several students from Class A over here, and they all stated that Nathalie Quinlan has not been involved in any classroom bullying or mistreating fellow classmates, nor have they seen her fight with anyone. It’s only Wenny Taylor who has been saying this; we haven’t figured out exactly what happened..."
The woman sitting there suddenly raised her voice, quite displeased, as she questioned, "Mr. Jones, are you suggesting my daughter is lying? I know my daughter best. She’s a good student with a nice personality, a top student since she was young, always among the best in No. 1 Middle School. She wouldn’t lie."
"If she’s spoken up, it must be because she has often been bullied by this delinquent! The fact that the classmates are silent just shows she’s used to throwing her weight around in the class, and everyone’s too afraid to speak up."
