Chapter 517: Amadeus Yancey Again_1
Nathalie Quinlan lowered her gaze and tapped open the message he had sent.
The sent time showed three in the morning.
There was only one line.
[Nathalie, I’m home.]
Nathalie Quinlan raised her eyebrows, a look of surprise on her face.
She was well aware that she hadn’t given the Wilmar family an ultimatum yet and there was no way she could bail Freddy Cagwin out of the police station for the time being.
All she did was ask Simon Cadwell to take care of Freddy Cagwin and find a doctor to examine his injuries.
As for bailing Freddy Cagwin out,
She had planned to talk to someone about it today; she didn’t expect that Freddy Cagwin had already been bailed out last night.
Nathalie Quinlan, squinting slightly, needed only to use her toes to figure out who had bailed Freddy Cagwin out for her.
Apart from Amadeus Yancey, it was impossible for there to be anyone else capable of doing it.
Besides, last night she had only sent him the petty news about Jecksen Wilmar; she couldn’t think of anyone else.
Of course, she hoped for Freddy Cagwin to get out of the police station sooner; after all, the sooner his injuries were dealt with, the better, to prevent any secondary issues.
Like wound infection and inflammation.
With just three months left until the university entrance exam, every single day was incredibly important for a senior high school student; she believed that Freddy Cagwin didn’t want to miss any school either.
Nathalie Quinlan’s slender hand held the phone, leaning against the desk, with her long legs bent; she pursed her lips, didn’t reply to his message, but took the phone off the charger and gave him a call.
Freddy Cagwin picked up the call very quickly, it connected within a few seconds.
"Hello, Nathalie."
Nathalie Quinlan, hearing the vigor in his voice, knew he was alright and felt somewhat relieved. She asked him, "Did you sleep well last night? I didn’t see your message. Where are you now?"
"The hospital." Freddy Cagwin didn’t let her finish speaking and said, "I guessed you were asleep. Afterward, I called you and saw that your phone was off, so I did not disturb you further. I originally just wanted to let you know that I was released so you wouldn’t worry."
He paused, then continued, "The person you sent to pick me up took me to the hospital to get bandaged up; the doctor treated all my wounds, no serious problems, a couple of days and I should recover."
He had been prepared to go to the Detention Center, and had even resigned himself to the possibility of missing the university entrance exam. At his lowest moment, the police suddenly came in and told him that someone had come to bail him out.
The man who came to bail him out was a stranger, but he mentioned Nathalie Quinlan’s name. On the way to the hospital for the checkup, he comforted Freddy Cagwin and revealed that the confession he had been forced to sign may very well be invalid, and told him not to worry...
Whether the confession mattered or not was not a big concern for him; what really worried him was the condition of his parents while he was locked up. That he was out smoothly made him extremely grateful to Nathalie Quinlan.
"Thank you, Nathalie."
"..." Nathalie Quinlan hadn’t known that he had been brought to the hospital for a checkup, and was frustrated to find that she seemingly owed a greater debt of gratitude.
She felt like having one more louse wasn’t a concern when already bitten and said, somewhat painfully, "...It wasn’t I who bailed you out."
The person on the other end of the phone seemed to understand, chuckling lightly, "Even if it wasn’t you, someone else did it because of you. It’s no different from you bailing me out."
He knew what Nathalie Quinlan wanted to ask and said, "Nathalie, don’t worry about my parents. After I got checked for injuries, I went to find them at South Garden Hospital. Knowing I was fine, they stopped worrying. But my mom got mad at me for telling you about being taken to the police station, saying I shouldn’t have dragged you into this. She didn’t speak to me all night. Just now, she finally started talking to me again and mentioned wanting to invite you to a meal."
