Chapter 498: An Old Man Got His Eye Pecked by an Eagle_1

Ivy Wilmar’s slender lips were tightly pursed, her well-proportioned face showing little emotion; with a stern face, she wore a beige turtleneck sweater today, her shoulders draped with a fox fur shawl that highlighted her refined and distinguished presence.

She glared at the girl sitting in the interrogation room, frowning deeply, and said coldly, "I don’t deserve this ’Mrs. Wilmar’ from you."

"I came here to ask you one question, and I want the truth from you. Did you hit Jecksen Wilmar?"

She had gone to the hospital to see her younger brother right after getting off the airplane. Jecksen Wilmar was lying on the hospital bed, awake and in constant pain.

The painkillers the doctor gave him were ineffective. He had three broken ribs, and he wouldn’t be able to do anything but lie in bed until they healed.

Not to mention Jecksen Wilmar’s face—it was swollen like a pig’s head and impossible to look at!

She and Jecksen Wilmar were full siblings, and seeing her younger brother beaten up like this made her both angry and heartbroken. How could she show a pleasant face to the ’culprit’ sitting here?

"Why did you hit him, and why so viciously?" Ivy Wilmar suppressed the anger rising within her, clutching her handbag tightly, her expression dark as she spoke, "Your mother used to say that despite your young age, you had a cruel heart. I didn’t believe it and always spoke in your defense, but this is how you repay me? You put my own brother in the hospital and broke three of his ribs. Yet the hospital’s injury assessment only classifies it as a minor injury..."

Her voice was calm, yet laden with suppressed anger and accusation: "Nathalie Quinlan, you’ve really outdone yourself. I never realized you were capable of this. I must have been blind all these years, to be fooled by a young eagle’s peck."

Whenever she followed Myles Sullivan to McKinney to visit relatives, she would always encounter the Quinlan sisters. Ghania Quinlan would always be docile and eager to please, sweetly calling her "Auntie" as she followed behind her.

Nathalie Quinlan was different, however.

Ivy Wilmar had never seen a similar fawning expression on Nathalie’s face as she had on Ghania’s, nor had she seen her intentionally acting coy in her presence. Instead, she saw calm and sensibility that demanded respect.

She came from a prestigious family and had married a well-matched husband early on, forming a powerful alliance; she was never short of people trying to ingratiate themselves with her. Despite Ghania’s sycophantic demeanor, Ivy actually appreciated Nathalie’s integrity more.

Back when Myles Sullivan chose Ghania Quinlan, she felt regret for Nathalie, believing Nathalie had more potential and value to nurture.

But Ghania was, after all, related by blood to her husband while Nathalie had a defiant personality and was unwilling to come back with them to Beijing, so she gradually accepted Ghania with reluctance...

However, she never changed her opinion, still believing that Nathalie had more worth cultivating compared to Ghania.

Now, Ivy Wilmar was only filled with annoyance. As much as she had liked Nathalie in the past, she felt just as furious when looking at the defiant girl before her now.

Before coming here, she had encountered Juan Wilmar and Simon Cadwell still in a standoff outside, and receiving the hospital’s injury assessment from Cadwell only intensified her indignation.

Nathalie was treating them like fools!

She had sent Jecksen Wilmar to the hospital with a public beating, and now they couldn’t do anything to her even if they followed legal procedures? It was laughable that such a thing could happen!

Although Juan Wilmar had called her on her way here, telling her about the cancellation of school enrollment, Ivy Wilmar still couldn’t swallow her pride.

Out of respect for Myles Sullivan, she slightly subdued the resentment on her face, her voice carrying a sense of superiority as she probed, "Tell me, how do you plan to settle this matter?"
