The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 471: Provoked the Yancey Family’s Buddha_1

Chapter 471: Provoked the Yancey Family’s Buddha_1

Jeff Quinlan’s brow twitched, somewhat taken aback by the turn of events. He glanced at the anxious Aunt Cagwin, then turned back to look at the connection he had finally managed to find, furrowing his brows and asking implicitly, "Is there no room to maneuver in this matter?"

They were all adults, and everyone understood what he meant by that.

Which was, could they bribe their way out of this situation?

After all, nine times out of ten, any problem that could be solved with money was not a problem!

Mr. Vinson’s face hardened instantly, and he stuffed the cigarette Jeff had just given him back into his pack. With a frown and a serious look in his eyes, he said, "Mr. Quinlan, I advise you not to think about pulling strings anymore. Freddy’s case is more complex than you imagine, and there are some small details that I’m not at liberty to divulge, so I didn’t tell you earlier..."

It was the first time that Jeff saw him returning a cigarette to him, realizing the severity of the situation. Jeff’s expression shifted as he too looked at him, asking in a deep voice, "Mr. Vinson, Freddy is my nephew, I can’t just ignore him. What exactly is going on? You can’t reveal it to me after all these years we’ve known each other?"

Having said so much, the middle-aged man was not heartless enough to refuse to reveal any information to him, but seeing his insistence, he sighed deeply and said, "Sigh! You have so many unsolved troubles of your own recently, why insist on jumping into this muddy water to invite trouble for yourself!"

"That night at Sky Bar, besides those there for fun, there was a VIP present, and that’s the reason why the higher-ups demand quick handling of the case."

Jeff Quinlan knit his brows, his dark pupils fixed on him: "Who?"

Mr. Vinson was reluctant to say more, but upon hearing the question, he vaguely mentioned a name: "Mr. Wilmar from Beijing."

"He was there having fun at that time too. So, it doesn’t matter whether Freddy’s case is a misunderstanding or not, the important thing is we can’t just bring in all the second generation kids who were at Sky Bar that night for questioning, can we? We don’t have that power. Not to talk of us, even the department might not have that authority!"

Mr. Vinson continued, "This was originally a minor matter of a surprise inspection. If you take it seriously and get involved, it would be a big deal that could upset the whole of McKinney. Do you understand what I mean?"

Having been through the vicissitudes of the business world for decades, how could Jeff not understand the underlying implications of those few words.

Beijing, like McKinney, has several top families present in the upper echelon.

There are four families in Beijing’s top circle.

The Yancey Family, the Wilmar Family, the Tanzil Family, and the Sullivan Family.

The Sullivan Family, having lost their prestigious Mr. Sullivan who had received medals, had an early demise and seemed to be on the verge of falling out of the top circle.

The Tanzil Family’s younger generation took a more indifferent view towards fame and fortune, always acting very low-key and preferring not to get involved in circle affairs. Their influence had waned over the past few years but was somewhat better than the Sullivan Family’s.

The real powerhouses standing at the pinnacle of Beijing’s circle were actually just two families, the prospering Yancey Family and the Wilmar Family!

Unlike the Yancey Family which strictly disciplined its younger generation, producing one outstanding member after another, the Wilmar Family’s approach to educating the next generation was rather lax, especially the branch headed by Raymond Wilmar, which was more so. His eldest daughter, Ivy Wilmar, who married Myles Sullivan, was fairly accomplished within the piano association despite her young age. However, his youngest son, Jecksen Wilmar, was a complete spoiled rich kid.

In Beijing, he never learned anything good, spending his days causing trouble and oppressing both men and women. Yet, with the Wilmar Family backing him, no one dared to provoke him.

But Beijing was different from other places, where there’s always someone higher up the ladder, and "heaven beyond the sky"!

Even someone as domineering as Jecksen had hit a snag a few years ago.

He was not clear on the specifics, but he heard Emilia Sullivan vaguely mention that Jecksen had crossed paths with a Buddha from the Yancey Family.
