For him, ten thousand yuan wasn’t much, but for Aunt Cagwin, who rose early and worked late at her stall, putting her child through school and taking care of a patient at home, it was an immense sum.

Jeff Quinlan knew what she wanted to say and interrupted her, comforting her with a serious look in his eyes, "I heard that since Freddy went back to school, he’s been performing well, ranking within the top five in his class. With his grades, he’ll definitely go to college. Don’t think too much; he’s probably just out with friends, lost track of time, and his phone might have just run out of battery."

Aunt Cagwin nodded, her anxiety significantly alleviated.

He glanced at the incoming caller ID and said to Aunt Cagwin, "It’s a phone call from the police station. They must have news about Freddy."

Jeff Quinlan answered the call and considerately turned on the speakerphone, his voice slightly hoarse as he said to the person on the other end, "Hello, Mr. Vinson."

Static crackled over the phone, and after a few seconds, a voice responded, "Mr. Quinlan, I’ve found the Freddy Cagwin you asked me to search for."

Indeed, there was news about Freddy. The excitement was nearly impossible for Aunt Cagwin to contain, almost blurting out, asking where he was.

Jeff Quinlan asked before she did, his voice grave, "Thank you, Mr. Vinson. Where is he now? I’ll drive over to pick him up."

He had already taken out his car keys, but the response from the other end brought an unexpected revelation.
