She had guessed right; Nathalie Quinlan was indeed at the Imperial Hotel.
However, unlike the ordinary elegant room booked by Zayn Fisher, Candice Yancey had reserved a VIP private room at the Imperial Hotel, which was a bit further inside.
By the time Nathalie and the others arrived, Candice had already gotten there and was making a phone call in the private room.
When she saw someone enter, she said something to the person on the other end, hung up, stood up, and searched behind Amadeus before asking in surprise, "Where’s Nathalie?"
"She went to the restroom."
Justin Wafford had gone with her as well; he probably wanted to ask Nathalie about her exam results.
"Oh." Seeing that Nathalie wasn’t there, Candice then reproachfully said to the two of them, "Why have you only just arrived? I’ve been waiting for ages."
"Went to pick someone up at the airport."
Amadeus Yancey was the first to go in, took off his jacket, and draped the khaki coat over the chair’s back, leaving himself in only a white T-shirt. His handsome features were striking, with deep-set, sculpted eyes and a tall, well-proportioned figure—broad shoulders and a narrow waist. The simplicity of the white T-shirt took on a clean and fresh look on him. His hand rested on the jacket, his fingers long and nails neatly trimmed, so perfect that not a single flaw could be found. That lazy way of speaking made him even more dangerously charming!
Candice had long grown accustomed to her nephew’s bewitching looks and automatically ignored the visual impact he provided. She narrowed her eyes, paying attention instead to his exceptionally different attire today. "You’re dressed quite sunny today. Changing styles?"
"Pfft." Alfred Garland couldn’t hold back and chuckled out loud.
Amadeus Yancey cast a casual glance at him.
He immediately covered his mouth and shrank his neck as if trying to pretend he didn’t exist.
Inwardly though, he was giving Candice a thumbs-up —Young lady rocks, saying the exact same thing as Ms. Quinlan did!
"No, just grabbed a random piece of clothing." Amadeus Yancey had a headache, pinched his brow, and upon seeing the table full of dishes, pulled out a chair.
"Oh." Candice squinted at him, focusing especially on the unexpectedly youthful T-shirt he wore that day and couldn’t help saying another word, "Actually, you look pretty good in this. You’re not old, so you don’t always have to wear black and gray clothes. Trying out some bright colors occasionally is good."
Candice didn’t say the rest of what she had in mind.
She had more thoughts that she kept to herself.
Her nephew Amadeus liked Nathalie, and anyone with eyes could see that. Although Amadeus wasn’t old, being only 25 this year, the problem was that Nathalie had just turned 18. When it comes to their ages, it could give off a bit of a ’cradle-snatcher’ vibe.
But both of them were good-looking, and not just ordinarily so. A handsome man and a beautiful woman standing together, no matter how you looked at it, they matched well!
"By the way, you just mentioned picking someone up at the airport—who was it?"
Amadeus Yancey picked up a cup, rinsed it clean with hot water, then emptied it and poured himself a fresh cup of Tea.
The Tea at the Imperial Hotel was all top-notch, with the VIP private rooms being supplied with nothing less than the highest grade of new Tea.
This type of Tea was sold by the gram, its price comparable to that of gold.
His pale hand holding the blue and white porcelain teacup, he skimmed off the froth with the lid, watching the vibrant green Tea leaves bob up and down in the water before saying carelessly, "A classmate of Nathalie’s."
"Ah? A boy or a girl?" Candice’s first reaction was similar to Alfred’s; they both asked about the gender.
Amadeus Yancey didn’t go into detail, "You’ve met them before."
Candice couldn’t remember the few classmates of Nathalie Quinlan she had met, so she simply didn’t bother thinking about it. She looked at him with a slightly meaningful gaze and said, "The old man wanted to come today, but I didn’t let him. When are you going to bring Nathalie to meet your grandfather? Since you’ve made up your mind, you should always introduce her to the family, have a meal together. Keeping things hidden isn’t the way to go."
