The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 432: Rejected_1

Chapter 432: Rejected_1

Adelle Wafford flipped through the information in her hands, glanced at the girl standing in the center, and leaned back in her chair, her expression stern and serious.

Since the day she saw her grades, she had been like this, showing no good face to anyone. If you didn’t know better, you’d think someone had offended her.

The others knew she was in a bad mood and steered clear of her, with most of their attention focused on Ghania Quinlan and Shawn Norton.

They all waited for Shawn Norton to answer.

After all, it was the first time in many years that Mr. Norton had joined them for Tsinghua University’s independent admissions interviews. If he wasn’t interested in taking on students, why would he have come?

Since Mr. Norton seemed interested and the female student before him appeared to be a promising candidate, the likelihood of him taking her as his disciple was high.

They were all waiting for a historic moment.

Unexpectedly, Shawn Norton just lifted his eyelids indifferently and said something very similar to what he had mentioned in private to Derliand Gober, "You have been studying piano, and my expertise lies in the Konghou. I don’t have any guidance to offer you. If you are seeking advice, you should look for a teacher in your own specialty. They can provide you with far more help than I ever could."

The meaning was conveyed gently yet clearly. In two words, rejected.

Ghania Quinlan’s face turned pale.

She stood there like a statue, gripping the CD in her hand, almost biting through her lip.

The classroom was as quiet as death.

Nobody expected Shawn Norton to outright reject a promising student, but then again, no one was really surprised.

The atmosphere grew somewhat stifling.

Derliand Gober looked at the girl standing in the center of the classroom, surrounded by gazes from all directions. Seeing her eyes redden, standing there lost and attempting to speak but failing to utter a word, he felt sympathy. Considering Zayn Fisher’s influence, he thought for a moment before speaking, "Ghania Quinlan, right? I see your math scores are good. Have you thought about your minor? Would you be interested in joining our Finance Department?"

Outside the classroom, Nathalie Quinlan had been waiting along with seven or eight others. As the number of people in the classroom dwindled, only a few were left besides her.

She finally shifted her attention from her phone to check the time, furrowing her brows in confusion.

Why hadn’t it been her turn yet?

She wasn’t impatient, but sitting there waiting for so long was beginning to irritate her.

The few scattered individuals in the classroom also made their way to the next room one by one.

Feeling restless, Nathalie Quinlan turned off her phone, put it back in her bag, and stood up, heading towards the door.

Finally, the second-to-last person exited the neighboring classroom and bumped into her. He examined her from head to toe and asked, "Are you Nathalie Quinlan?"

Nathalie Quinlan raised an eyebrow and casually confirmed, "Yeah. That’s me."

Surprised by how casually dressed she was for an interview, the student paused for a moment, gave her another curious look, and said, "Oh, the teachers inside asked me to tell you it’s your turn."

Nathalie Quinlan adjusted the brim of her hat, covering her dark eyes, and thanked the boy, "Thank you."

With her polite response, the boy felt somewhat embarrassed, awkwardly touched his nose, and said shyly, "No, it’s nothing."

His attitude softened considerably upon seeing her again, perhaps feeling a sense of camaraderie in their shared predicament, and he said, "It’s tough being the last one. Sigh, the teachers have almost made their choices. Being at the end puts us at such a disadvantage. I have no hope of being chosen, but you, you should give it your all!"

Nathalie Quinlan lifted her eyelids and hummed in response as she walked inside.
