Chapter 418: The Promise Made to Mr. Norton_1
Chapter 418: The Promise Made to Mr. Norton_1
Nathalie Quinlan returned to her room, took a bath, changed into a fresh set of clothes, and walked out of the bathroom. She casually draped a dry towel over her hair, ignoring the mischievous strands that dripped water down her temples. With determined brows, she walked to her desk, pulled out the chair, and effortlessly flipped open her laptop, pressing the power button.
Her laptop was very thin, pure black, with no extra decorations on the screen, and the keyboard appeared quite worn, with some of the Pinyin characters rubbed off to the point of being illegible.
But it started up extremely fast.
While most computers, no matter how fast, would take around five to six seconds to boot up, her laptop only took two seconds and did not stall at all.
Nathalie, wearing a black hoodie and with bare legs, sat cross-legged on the chair, her face casual and slightly squinting at the laptop, her hand resting on the nearby mouse. She navigated through a clutter of desktop icons to find a chatting software and logged into her account.
After a short while, the account named Lighten Chaser came online.
"Ding ding ding."
As soon as she came online, the icon in the lower right corner started flashing. Nathalie squinted her eyes and curved her fingers to move the cursor over, clicking on the little speaker icon.
A new friend had added her.
She glanced at the verification message left by the other party, her pupils dark and dry, and clicked to approve.
After adding the new friend, Nathalie stood up and walked away to the bathroom to find a hairdryer to dry her hair, only to return to the computer afterward. She nonchalantly glanced over her laptop and saw that the chat box on her desktop had several new messages.
The first message was an automatic system verification.
[Lighten Chaser: Hello, I have approved your friend request, we can start chatting now!]
The rest of the messages were all sent by the other person.
[Hello, I’m a director from the Melody Program, you can call me Sister Xia. ^_^]
[I have heard your name long ago, Lighten Chaser, right? Many people around me are your fans, and my son likes you a lot. I’ve listened to your music, and it’s very unique. You are the first person in the country to play traditional and rock music to the extreme! Your new song "Phoenix" is very good. I remember you had a song called Nirvana before. Phoenix Nirvana, is it a series?]
Nathalie raised an eyebrow, continuing to read further.
She found that it took the other party five minutes to send the following message.
[Sorry, was my previous question too presumptuous? I mean no harm, just didn’t expect to be able to add you. I got too curious. If I have offended you, please forgive me. Master Lighten Chaser, has Mr. Norton informed you about my purpose?]
[It’s like this, we’re planning to make a documentary. The content is related to music. For other types of music, we’ve found the new generation’s representative figures, but for traditional music, we haven’t been able to find a suitable candidate. Mr. Norton recommended you to us. Would you be available for a meeting?]
Nathalie dragged the mouse and scrolled to the bottom of the chat box, her eyes narrowing.
Shawn Norton had mentioned it to her.
On her first day in Beijing, when she met Shawn Norton and they were having a drink, he brought up the matter of asking for her help.
It was this very matter.
Apparently, the TV station was organizing a major promotional campaign in the form of a documentary to introduce various types of music to the youth.
This program would be broadcast during prime time.
They had found people for other types of music.
There were too few candidates for traditional music; if someone didn’t lack fame, they lacked ability. After much selection, the program team couldn’t find a suitable candidate, so they reached out through connections to Shawn Norton, hoping he could recommend a young generation figure representative of the field. Otherwise, they would have had no choice but to omit the introduction to traditional music.
