Chapter 403: Two Classic Theories_1
Only Amadeus could get Ms. Quinlan a spicy dip for her Authentic Hot Pot at this private restaurant, and he did it with such confidence!
Nathalie Quinlan was replying to Shawn Norton’s message when she heard this, she looked up and glanced at the dip in front of her. There weren’t even any tiny chili peppers in the red oil, she responded with a tone of indifference, "There should be no need to change it."
Amadeus Yancey’s eyes were brimming with mirth, realizing what she implied without saying it, it seemed it wasn’t spicy enough for her.
"Make do with this for now."
He was poised and elegant as he rolled up his sleeve, revealing a portion of his robust wrist, the lines of the bone smooth and brimming with tension. The silver bracelet and Buddhist beads on his wrist looked eye-catching when worn together.
"If you can’t handle the sesame paste, I’ll have someone switch out the sauce for you."
"Mm."
Nathalie Quinlan had actually tried sesame paste before; Silvania Ingram was from Beijing and had taken her to try northern Hot Pot in McKinney. They had sesame paste there, and she tried it once. How to put it, she found it acceptable, not spicy, but with the fragrance of peanuts and sesame. She could eat it, but not too much, or else it would become cloying.
Shortly after, the thinly sliced lamb was served.
The Hot Pot at this private courtyard restaurant not only looked appetizing on the plate but also filled the room with a delicious aroma of lamb soup.
Nathalie Quinlan’s stomach began to growl with hunger.
She never skimped on feeding herself well when it came to food, so after finishing the message to Shawn Norton, she picked up her chopsticks and began to dig in earnestly.
The Hot Pot Amadeus Yancey had brought her to was authentic and genuine.
The lamb she had tried before with Silvania Ingram in McKinney had not been well prepared, leaving a gamey aftertaste in the soup and on the meat itself.
For those not fond of that taste, it could significantly affect their appetite.
But the one Amadeus had brought her to, was much tastier, the lamb soup base was milky white with a rich aroma, importantly it lacked any gamey taste while maximizing the freshness of the lamb.
The finished lamb dipped in sesame paste along with green onions and cilantro, was delicious and tender.
Nathalie Quinlan couldn’t resist eating several servings until she could eat no more. She then set down her chopsticks, leaned back, rested against the chair, her eyes half-closed and her gaze suffused with a lazy satisfaction, thoroughly content.
Amadeus hadn’t eaten much, as he was primarily there to keep her company. Seeing her satisfied, he too put down his chopsticks, wiped the corner of his mouth, and with a seemingly casual glance asked, "What are your plans for the afternoon? Do you want to take a stroll around Beijing?"
"No, I don’t want to walk."
Nathalie Quinlan was full and felt sleepy, her eyelids began to fight each other, and she sat slouched in her chair, barely able to suppress the indolence seeping through her.
Alfred Garland for the first time realized he had quite the appetite, as everyone else had finished eating while he was still going at it. Embarrassed to continue, he put down his chopsticks just in time to hear Nathalie Quinlan decline the stroll, and he asked puzzled, "Ms. Quinlan, since you’ve come all this way, wouldn’t it be a wasted trip if you don’t take a look around?"
Propping her chin in her hand, Nathalie Quinlan half-closed her eyelids, her fair face taking on a rather wild expression, "There it is again, the classic Chinese rationale of ’since you’re already here’ along with ’it’s the holiday season’."
"Huh?" Alfred looked completely bewildered, clearly not catching the reference.
With a touch of her rosy lips, Nathalie Quinlan delivered a precise critique, "I saw online that in our country every situation can be resolved with two sentences. The first is ’since you’re already here,’ and the second is ’it’s the holiday season.’ You just used the first one, and it suddenly reminded me of that joke."
