Chapter 1883: Amadeus Truly. Lying from Start to Finish Without a Draft

Amadeus Yancey didn’t go upstairs or to the study after returning home; instead, he brewed himself a cup of coffee and poured another for Brian Bonette, handing it over.

"Thanks." Brian Bonette accepted it, surprised, and thanked him.

Amadeus didn’t say anything else. He returned to the living room, sat at the bar, and took out his phone.

Just then, Candice Yancey called. He picked up the call, leaning back comfortably: "Hello, Aunt."

The phone had a delay, and after two seconds, Candice’s voice came through the phone.

"Has Nathalie Quinlan gone to McKinney to visit relatives and still not returned? When do you plan to come back? I heard from Mr. Wafford that she’s not participating in this semester’s final exams. Is her relative’s health really bad? Is it serious?"

Candice was very worried: "Do you think we should go over and check on Nathalie’s relative?"

Only a few people knew that Nathalie Quinlan was in Inderia.

To others, Amadeus Yancey only said Nathalie went to McKinney to visit Uncle and Aunt Cagwin and wouldn’t return to Beijing for now, keeping Nathalie’s trip to Inderia a tightly held secret.

Even Candice didn’t know Nathalie was not in McKinney but in Inderia, and was soon going to take the assessment at The First Research Institute.

"What illness does her relative have? Do you have any solutions? If there’s no solution, I know many experts. Tell Nathalie and see if she’s willing to transfer them to the City Hospital in Beijing. It would be convenient for me to take care of them here. After work every day, I can go to the hospital to help out."

Candice was earnestly concerned, worried that Nathalie might be overwhelmed and too tired from looking after the patient.

Normally, when a lie is about to be exposed, one would feel guilty, at least not act so naturally.

But Mr. Yancey was evidently no ordinary person.

He just lowered his lashes and spoke lazily: "No need, they are used to staying in McKinney, and it’s not a major issue, just some minor accumulated problems over the years, needing more rest."

"Then when will you come back?" Candice returned to her usual question, fearing to disturb Nathalie, usually asking Amadeus.

So Nathalie was completely unaware that others thought she had returned to McKinney.

Amadeus lowered his lashes, a hint of youthful arrogance in his brow, but mostly a settled steadiness and restraint: "Uncertain."

Not waiting for Candice to scold him.

He spoke nonchalantly: "We’ll see how it goes. She’s been busy lately; don’t disturb her. If anything, just talk to me."

"You always act up at such times, huh? Why do I need a report from you just to speak with Nathalie? You’re so great; why haven’t you married her yet?" Candice was so annoyed by him that her face turned green. She stood up from the office swivel chair, startling her secretary who had just entered to inform her about the next schedule.

Candice waved at the secretary, indicating for him to wait a moment, then continued to walk towards the floor-to-ceiling window with her phone: "I just called to check on the situation, and here you are worried I’d disturb you."

As she spoke, she remembered: "Oh, there’s one more thing I need to tell you. Caryn Zachmann has formally entered prison to serve her sentence, and the Heburn Family has collapsed."

Amadeus paused the tapping of his fingers on the bar, his eyes darkened, his voice slightly deep as he said to Candice: "I know, I’ll hang up now."

Candice hadn’t had the chance to ask about Nathalie’s recent situation before he hung up the phone. After sitting at the bar for a while, Amadeus picked up his phone and went upstairs to find her.

Brian Bonette, not playing any games, sat there, having heard some of the phone conversation, and watched as Amadeus went upstairs to find someone, his eyelids twitching in shock.

Was this a full-scale lie told without preparation?

When did Nathalie go to McKinney?
