Chapter 1878: Haven’t Seen This Person Before
After a commotion, everyone grew tense.
However, the staff member who rushed over didn’t immediately sit down at their place, but instead made their way through the crowd to greet Violetta Hoffman with great respect: "Mr. Hoffman, why didn’t you mention you were bringing a friend to register? If you’d told me in advance, I would have come earlier."
With keen perception, he glanced at the girl standing next to Violetta Hoffman. For a moment, he paused, then quickly regained his composure and, with a touch of flattery, continued to speak to Violetta Hoffman: "This must be your friend, right? So young and accomplished."
Ever since the staff from The First Research Institute arrived, the lounge had become exceptionally quiet, so almost everyone saw the staff member approach Violetta Hoffman to greet her and heard their conversation.
Mr. Hoffman?
Someone murmured: "Could that person be from The First Research Institute? I heard the staff call her Mr. Hoffman? Are people from The First Research Institute really that young?"
"I remember the head of the third laboratory is named Zhou, but I’m not sure what their full name is. Could it be this person is the head of the third laboratory..." a short and somewhat plump man spoke in a low, excited voice, his face flushed.
Those around him, hearing this, turned to look at Violetta Hoffman and Nathalie Quinlan with shock, their eyes growing fervent.
The area they were in was merely The First Research Institute’s office space, without any connection to the laboratories.
It’s rare to see anyone from the laboratories.
Let alone one of the leaders of the eight major laboratories.
While some noticed Violetta Hoffman, others naturally focused on Nathalie Quinlan, who was by her side.
The girl exuded an imposing aura that demanded respect; not overtly sharp, yet enough to attract attention.
She wore a dark woolen sweater, a light gray scarf draped on one side, and a black duckbill cap. She stood casually to the side, never saying a word.
Yet, it seemed as though she had everything under control.
"I’ve never seen this person before; does anyone know her? Which family is she from?"
"No idea."
"This year, Therry Kingsley is from the Kingsleys Family, and Andriana Davidson is from the Davidson Family. The other alliances don’t seem to have such a young girl..."
The power dynamics in Inderia are extremely complex, and many minor powers will try every possible way to have their members seize this opportunity to take the exam.
They hope for a miracle, that their person can enter the institute, and their power will rise with them.
Therefore, those who come to take the assessments generally have backing. Otherwise, conducting experiments or research is an expensive affair. Without support, unless one is inherently wealthy, it’s challenging to progress, even with talent.
Nathalie Quinlan heard some of the soft discussions about her from those around, the voices were extremely quiet, yet she caught them nonetheless.
However, she leaned against the side, standing, and didn’t take the gossip to heart.
Finally, Violetta Hoffman finished exchanging pleasantries with the person and walked over with a smiling face, tapping her on the shoulder, whispering: "Sweetheart, you’re the first to register. Hurry up, there are too many people here. We’ll leave once you’re done."
"Okay." Nathalie Quinlan followed in the footsteps of the staff member to the desk with a laptop placed on it.
The staff member sat down quickly and opened the laptop.
