Chapter 1843: Sorry, Nathalie Declines
Nathalie Quinlan didn’t sit down; instead, she leaned casually against the side of the chair, her elbow resting on the back, nonchalantly replying to messages from Shawn Norton and Audrick Zachmann.
After replying to the two, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that she had received a text message from an unknown number without a displayed number.
No displayed number?
Nathalie’s cold eyes deepened with interest, the corners of her eyes lifting, and her slender fingers tapped open the text message.
[Hello Ms. Quinlan, I’m from the Kingsleys Family in Inderia. I heard your mother passed away early. Are you interested in learning about your mother? This is also related to your own background, and your maternal family hopes to bring you back. Please consider meeting me. Looking forward to your reply.]
Nathalie skimmed through it.
When she saw ’heard your mother passed away’ and ’your maternal family wants to bring you back’, a trace of sarcasm flickered in her eyes.
She didn’t reply, casually deleted the text, and when she looked up, the progress bar on the laptop on the table had already reached 100%.
Nathalie placed the phone aside and focused entirely on the computer.
She originally thought she could directly access the First Research Institute of Independent island’s network, but unexpectedly the update revealed an additional defense system.
Nathalie narrowed her eyes slightly, pulled out the chair from under the table, and placed her hands on the keyboard, starting to type.
A cascade of code flowed smoothly from her fingertips.
Soon, after pressing the enter key.
The computer popped up a small warning box.
Nathalie gazed at the yellow warning box that appeared, finally curling her lips in a confident smirk, typing in another long string of code, temporarily retreating.
She hadn’t anticipated the First Research Institute’s defense system to be so advanced; any attack would leave traces.
Of course, she could certainly break through the final firewall of the First Research Institute, but if she attacked openly, it would inevitably alert the enemy.
So Nathalie stopped at the last step, choosing to exit temporarily.
She leaned against the back of the chair, her eyes lingering on the computer screen, remaining still for a long time.
Until the phone screen beside her lit up again.
Nathalie reached out and picked it up, glancing down.
It was a message from Amadeus Yancey on WhatsApp.
The avatar was distinctly black.
[Y: Edric brought some late-night barbecue snacks, do you want to come down and eat?]
Nathalie propped her chin up, the sharpness in her eyes dissipating into nothingness. She raised an eyebrow, glanced again at WhatsApp, pulled out the chair, stood up, and headed downstairs, bringing only her phone.

The next day.
Because she was going to Inderia.
Nathalie got up early in the morning.
After getting up, she didn’t head to the airport immediately, instead visiting Mr. Zachmann in the hospital first, having a brief chat with the doctor, and then proceeded to the airport.
At Capital Airport, she got her boarding pass, pulled down her hat brim, and went to a vending machine to buy a cup of hot coffee, just as she opened the lid and took a small sip.
Jaycent Kingsley’s message arrived as expected.
[Have you departed?]
Nathalie leisurely finished her sip of coffee, setting the cup aside, freeing a hand to reply to his message.
[QN: Arriving in 12 hours.]
Inderia is actually right next to the Z country, about as far as it is to the M country.
After replying to Jaycent Kingsley, she received another unfamiliar new message.
[1XXXXXXXX: Hello Ms. Quinlan, I’m Aiden Moore, Amadeus has informed me of your arrival time. I’ll be there to pick you up.]
Half an hour later.
Nathalie boarded the airplane, took her seat, pulled out a blindfold, reclined her seat, closed her eyes for a nap, and turned off her phone.
