Chapter 1029: Nathalie Just Wants to Attend School Peacefully
Rhine Apartments.
After hearing that Nathalie Quinlan had left, Sadam Vinson didn’t feel like playing anymore. The gaming session ended abruptly, and he shamelessly caught a ride with Govert Griffin in Alfred Garland’s car to Amadeus Yancey’s apartment to look for Nathalie to hang out.
Nathalie did not come down from upstairs.
So he started gaming in a row of three with Alfred Garland and Govert Griffin.
While gaming, his mind somehow went on a tangent, and he brought up an unfinished topic from their time at Rivendell.
"Speaking of which, the Red Alliance has been pretty quiet lately. Haven’t heard any new news. Amadeus, have you heard anything new about the Red Alliance?"
After returning home, Amadeus changed into home attire, looking tall and slender, giving off a vibe of bespoke elegance in his loungewear. Holding a mug in his hand, he had just poured himself some water to drink, wearing cotton slippers, shoulders relaxed. At the mention of the Red Alliance, he lifted his eyelids, his handsome features showing no particular reaction, and casually replied: "No."
"Hiss." Sadam Vinson, gaming while leaning on the bar counter, chatted in a spotty manner, "That’s odd. The Red Alliance has been too quiet lately, and that Sun, it’s like he’s disappeared, not a trace to be found."
As he spoke, he rambled on: "Thinking about it, the last time Sun showed up was to take our job, and since then there’s been nothing. People have mixed opinions about the Red Alliance out there, but I think Sun is quite loyal. If we had the chance to meet, we could probably become brothers."
Amadeus Yancey settled on the sofa with his water, his legs casually resting on the tea table, long and proportionate. Hearing this, he raised his eyebrows and responded with an ambiguous tone, "Brothers?"
"Ah."
Sadam Vinson continued earnestly: "Just brothers. I think he’s a decent guy. He didn’t take any other jobs on the Black Market, only ours, and he really helped us out. I’ve always remembered that favor. It’s a shame he’s so mysterious, not many have met him."
He then remembered something: "Right, Amadeus, are you planning to visit the Illegal Zone anytime soon? Master Cadmus..."
As he was speaking, Nathalie Quinlan came downstairs just in time.
Upon seeing her, Sadam Vinson immediately stopped mentioning the Illegal Zone, dropped his phone, and cheerily waved to her, "Nathalie, we meet again. Come over, we’re short by two, you and Amadeus can join us, and we can team up as five."
"Not coming." Nathalie refused bluntly. After descending the stairs, she headed straight for the fridge and took out a bottle of water.
Then, walking back, she said to the man on the sofa, "I have to go out tomorrow to pick someone up."
Amadeus Yancey guessed she was talking about Audrick Zachmann, pursed his lips, looked at her, his voice husky, "For how many days?"
Nathalie twisted open the bottle and took a sip, slowly setting her water down, nonchalantly saying, "Two or three days, probably."
It was just picking someone up; it shouldn’t take more than three days.
Amadeus Yancey didn’t make a fuss, succinctly stating, "I’ll go with you."
"No need." Nathalie bent down to place the bottle on the tea table and casually picked up a candy, rolling it in her hands and playing with it, her eyes half-closed and her expression lax, "I’ll be back soon and tell you about it."
By the time she came back, Tsinghua University would be nearly starting the new term.
There would be a whole lot of things waiting for her at the start of school.
Tsinghua University has a tradition of an opening ceremony every year, and since the Chinese Medicine department didn’t admit many students this year, according to what Winston Sullivan told her, they seemed to want her to represent the new students in a performance.
She had no performances to offer unless they made her go up on stage, in which case she could only perform the music she had written before.
But all her work had already been published online.
If she indeed had to represent the Chinese Medicine department on stage, her online persona "Lighten Chaser" would be exposed.
Nathalie was quite annoyed by this; it’s not that she feared people knowing she’s privately into rock music online, but once her online persona was uncovered, her university life would certainly not be as quiet anymore.
All she wanted was to have a peaceful time at university.
