Chapter 1006: Nathalie always makes grand gestures
Candice Yancey had barely hung up on Amadeus Yancey when she received a gift delivered by Jethro Yapiter.
There were a dozen or so boxes laid out on the padauk office desk, and Candice Yancey’s assistant was dumbfounded, staring blankly as she opened the boxes.
A limited edition bracelet from SEVEN.
A limited edition ring from SEVEN.
...
Without exception, all items were limited editions from SEVEN, the price—well, let’s not put a figure on it, each was at least a seven-figure sum.
A dozen or so boxes, when totaled, also amounted to an eight-figure sum.
The assistant was quite worldly himself; an eight-figure sum did not seem extraordinarily large to him, but it was certainly substantial.
At first, he was able to comment, "Mr. Yancey, why has Pinecone Group suddenly sent you such expensive gifts? Could they be thinking of seeking cooperation with us?"
But Pinecone Group was in the business of jewelry and real estate, while their business was in new energy.
The two companies had nothing in common; cooperation seemed out of the question.
Pinecone Group’s Mr. Ingram was famously old-fashioned and dominant, a typical strong woman in the workplace, never known to ingratiate herself with anyone.
What day was it today?
"Mr. Ingram she..." The assistant’s words were only halfway out when Candice Yancey opened the last gift box.
Unlike the other boxes, the last one was made of velvet material, with a wine-red exterior, square and particularly attractive.
Candice Yancey opened the box, and lifted the lid.
The assistant gasped in surprise: "Heart of the Ocean?"
The Heart of the Ocean.
As the name implies, it is a pendant cut from a natural blue diamond; blue diamonds alone are extremely rare, plus the design from Pinecone Group’s chief designer S, the Heart of the Ocean can be considered part of SEVEN’s antique-level collection.
And it was one of the earliest and most famous works by designer S!
Now we’re not talking just a seven-figure starting price anymore—the price of the raw stone alone in the pendant is at least eight figures, and adding the designer’s fame, this pendant would be valued at a minimum of nine figures.
And this is the non-auction price.
Such an antique-level collection can’t even be bought with money alone on the outside; if it were indeed to be sold, it would probably require an auction.
"..."
Candice Yancey looked over the table full of dazzling gifts and was speechless for a long time, especially when she saw the last, antique-level pendant from S, which she had long desired but had never found who owned it. She stood frozen in place, taking several deep breaths.
The Yancey Family was not short of money, and she herself was not short of money either, but Nathalie Quinlan’s move was beyond her imagination.
It was quite a grand gesture!
She had mentioned in passing at Rivendell, intending to bid on a new piece by S for Nathalie this year; instead, Nathalie had gifted her a pendant that she had wanted for a long time...
"Mr. Yancey, what exactly does Pinecone Group mean by this? Should we send these things back?" The assistant worried that the other party had an ulterior motive in sending such expensive gifts.
But Candice Yancey walked to the swivel chair behind the office desk and sat down, picking up the pendant she had long cherished, her eyes warm, displaying rare tenderness, and stopped him, "No need."
"But Mr. Yancey, these items are too valuable, and Pinecone Group hasn’t explained why they sent them. I’m worried..."
"I know why they sent me these." Candice Yancey was in a good mood, her brow cocked with pride, "They’re gifts from my nephew’s wife."
"???" The assistant looked baffled.
Mr. Yancey only had one nephew, and it seemed that the illustrious Mr. Yancey was still single; since when did Mr. Yancey have a nephew’s wife??
