The Undying Transmigrator

Chapter 36: Canglan

Chapter 36: Canglan

Gravity was currently Mo Wen's greatest weakness.

It prevented him from flying away from this planet, and now it prevented him from even standing up.

Mo Wen couldn't determine whether this was the power of another psychic or some device, but pinned down and on the verge of being crushed, he had no way to deal with it.

He could feel the gravitational force continuously intensifying. His bones were about to shatter, and even his brain - forcibly maintained by his abilities - would soon turn to mush.

He would become a puddle of Mo Wen. Aside from the specially constructed Dreammaker VI that might last a bit longer, every other part of him would die more thoroughly than when Vanessa blew his head off.

He rejected death, but mere rejection couldn't make a puddle of Mo Wen move.

So, was there any possibility of counterattack?

The idea of a psychic counterattack flashed through Mo Wen's mind, but he couldn't locate his enemy - they had somehow blocked his perception.

Next came thoughts of how a puddle of Mo Wen might crawl faster and maintain combat effectiveness.

The difficulty was somewhat excessive.Suddenly, Mo Wen noticed abnormal movement in his "spirit root."

Calling it a spirit root wasn't entirely accurate - Mo Wen wasn't even sure what purpose this special organ served after inexplicably appearing when he crossed worlds, or if it was truly the same spirit root from cultivation novels.

He'd only read a fragmentary local text discovering that world's humans had completely different physiology before being eaten by a random minor demon.

He had no cultivation techniques, never trained, and in subsequent worlds, the spirit root remained withered and unresponsive.

But now, under the influence of level 5 psychic energy and driven by Mo Wen's will to survive, it was changing.

This transformation might not follow normal spirit root development, but life always finds a way.

Filamentous structures rapidly grew, piercing through Mo Wen's failing augmentations, even entangling his brain, performing deep micro-adjustments to everything.

Stronger. Tougher. More powerful.

Infusing shattered bones, replacing damaged organs, securing components threatening to fly apart, restoring this battered shell to barely functional condition.

Then, Mo Wen stood up through sheer willpower and walked.

The spirit root showed no further changes, but this was enough.

The gravity suppression field only covered about two kilometers. Mo Wen soon escaped the area through nearly frozen, impossibly accelerated movement, adjusting his energy level back to avoid self-destruction.

[Current Energy Level: 4. Current Augmentation Stability: 72%]

About two-thirds of his life remained before complete death, and in this fortress, two or three things could still kill him.

Ha, not bad.

Mo Wen didn't complain, continuing his search.

He couldn't locate the shielded threat, but he could completely destroy this fortress, using its explosion to eliminate anything capable of harming it.

This massive fortress must have an equally massive energy source.

Perhaps a miniature star, or an annihilation reactor filled with matter and antimatter, or maybe some psychic-powered bone ash altar.

Just had to find it...

"Domain·Canglan Forbidden Zone!"

Space transformed. Mo Wen felt plunged into the ocean's deepest abyss, surrounded by utter darkness, with only profound waters endlessly impacting him, stripping away his ability to exert force, imprisoning him here.

Apart from the humanoid figure radiating level 5 psychic energy ahead, no other life existed...

No!

Not the humanoid radiating energy - the surrounding water was!

The humanoid theatrically telepathically communicated as if it were the true entity: "Let me introduce myself. My name is Canglan, an agent belonging to [the Corporation]."

"Hereby I convict you of multiple charges including massacre, destruction of public facilities, obstruction of major human projects, sentencing you to 9.8 million years imprisonment. I shall be your jailer."

"I have achieved complete evolution, reaching humanity's next step. My psychic power has transcended norms, permanently maintained at level 5 without cost, even surpassing lifespan and death limitations."

"Rest peacefully in this isolated zone, awaiting public trial after project completion."

All lies!

Mo Wen knew if these enemies could kill him, they'd spare no effort. Claims of isolation and public trial were nonsense - this thing just wanted to stall until others assembled. As for cost-free level 5... not attacking directly with psychic energy proved there was a cost.

Like Libra becoming mechanical, this thing had probably become water?

Alternatively, some special organism, fluid computer, or liquefied psychic energy.

It might truly lack lifespan limits - killing that humanoid interface would accomplish nothing.

Only evaporating all liquid here could provide escape.

Canglan smiled at the restrained Mo Wen: "What, no words? Unwilling to speak, or nothing to say? But I have much to tell you. Satisfy my small expectations, and I might employ minor methods to expedite your release."

"You merely appeared at the wrong place at wrong time. Given time, currently unforgivable errors will be pardoned when victims are dead, and your value justifies tolerating damages thus far."

"So, first question, you..."

Time to end the lies.

[Current Energy Level: 5. Current Augmentation Stability: 21%]

The acceleration from level 4 to 5 was beyond even Mo Wen's ability to calculate, but he clearly sensed he'd touched forbidden territory.

Time acceleration originally limited to his vicinity could now target any area within his perception.

What could this do?

Mo Wen had pondered this, then realized no deep thought was needed - just act.

He selected a water current, making it move at equivalent acceleration.

Destruction followed instantly.

Light, heat... neither Mo Wen who wrought destruction nor Canglan who experienced it could comprehend what exactly occurred.

Matter could no longer maintain form, transforming into plasma, charged particle streams, all contained energy erupting, plus some even more terrifying force.

Even without fixed form, Canglan was certainly dead, and Mo Wen never imagined causing such devastation.

Would he die too?

He wasn't certain of surviving after killing Canglan, but absolutely had to advance, couldn't allow surrender.

But confusion lasted only briefly before Mo Wen found a connection point to reality in this masterless space.

His psychic energy tore open the passage, returning him to the fortress.

But the time Canglan bought had altered the battlefield.
