The Undying Transmigrator

Chapter 26: Power

Chapter 26: Power

"Run...away?"

The sky-obscuring fleet didn't fire this time.

Ren Sisi effortlessly breached the command chain, cracking open every poorly protected firepower platform in her view.

Shipboard AIs and soldiers received conflicting orders, while already faulty instruments were directly overloaded and detonated.

Mo Wen could see the flames in the sky.

The fleet that had been flaunting its power moments ago instantly became a cluster of sitting ducks.

No, worse than that - their fire control systems completely malfunctioned, making them shoot at each other, while the higher-altitude satellites couldn't intervene.

In the temporary command center, the simulated A-874184 frowned deeply. "He actually found such an excellent hacker?"

"No, wait - even the world's best hacker couldn't inexplicably breach before physical connection. My nuclear trap is probably meaningless now."

"A psychic... That absurd technology has actually produced such a specialist? Indeed, they must be exterminated before they can grow stronger."He immediately adjusted strategy, deploying low-intelligence troops.

Enhanced soldiers hidden throughout the city quickly took up firing positions, while various giant mechs with completely isolated networks rushed to form defensive lines.

Meanwhile, Mo Wen had already breached the city.

What were the odds of one man against an entire city?

Would victory go to:

- Tens of thousands of fully armed super soldiers with emotions erased, reflexes enhanced to supersonic levels, equipped with heavy weaponry - where just a few squads could topple small nations in the old era.

- Plus giant mechs normally disguised as skyscrapers, some towering dozens of meters tall, capable of leveling entire blocks with ease.

Or one man?

At this moment, Mo Wen believed victory was his - 100% certainty.

Not just because of technological superiority, but because he was the one who stepped onto this battlefield.

In one hand he gripped a high-frequency vibrating particle blade, in the other an energy rifle connected directly to his augmentation power supply.

For other augmented humans, these weapons would be impractical.

Even if they could slice through most materials effortlessly, who would run kilometers to engage in melee when they could attack from thousands of meters away?

The energy rifle couldn't penetrate armor at low power, while high power settings offered few shots before draining the user's own augmentation power first.

But for Mo Wen, with psychic acceleration making his personal time flow differently, they were perfect.

Fast - incredibly fast. Fast enough to outpace gun barrels swinging, turrets rotating, all fire control systems locking on. He could traverse the city without gathering dust.

Strong - overwhelmingly strong. Strong enough to bisect building-sized mechs in single strikes, destroy their power cores, and eliminate every soldier along his path.

Exhilarating! Liberating!

Only now, free from orbital-grade firepower and enemy traps, did Mo Wen truly feel his enhanced power.

No matter how the weak struggled, they couldn't harm him.

He could dismantle missiles mid-flight, or leap away before their shockwaves arrived.

Bullets fired by headless corpses with their last strength? He could pinch them between fingers and crush them to powder.

Giant mechs firing indiscriminately through allies? Their beams couldn't catch his shadow even after slaughtering all friendlies.

And he... he was death itself. Where he passed, life and death became his choice.

Enemies didn't deserve reaction time, screams, or fear - he stripped them of life's final dignity to face their killer, leaving only his judgment.

Power - how intoxicating. Power held in hand surpassed all worldly authority - the supreme right to decide others' and one's own fate.

All past suffering and death suddenly gained meaning - they had forged this power.

Mo Wen felt slightly mad, wanting to laugh wildly.

Being alive felt wonderful.

But it wasn't time to relax yet, even after slaughtering his first city.

He saw his distant target trying to flee.

The man had numerous augmentations enabling subsonic speed, while his guards swarmed to intercept death's approach.

Didn't they understand it was futile? Even kilometers away, Mo Wen could catch his target in under a second.

Perhaps there were escape tunnels or specialized defenses nearby.

No matter - killing the target now sufficed.

Mo Wen advanced.

Twelve elite guards remained - battle-hardened veterans, perfectly coordinated, fearless unto death.

How to kill them?

Kill them casually.

Mo Wen raised his hand, draining his augmentation reactor to near-empty. A devastating beam pierced the air, striking the first guard's control center.

Then the second, third, fourth.

Four guards who could snipe targets beyond 12km and intercept missiles died instantly.

Before they could slow him, Mo Wen closed the distance.

Two guards, through battle-honed instinct, predicted his path in the too-brief instant and moved to block.

Too slow - like snails trying to stop a man. Impossible unless the man chose to step on them.

But Mo Wen wouldn't divert. Power granted him the right to move straight, and he would exercise it.

A horizontal slash.

Shields capable of withstanding heavy artillery and aerial bombs - even with active barriers - were cleaved through.

Both guards, with arms strong enough to flip tanks and bodies specialized for defense, proved utterly useless, failing to delay Mo Wen even momentarily.

Past them, the path lay open.

Should he slaughter the remaining guards?

Unnecessary.

If they couldn't hinder him, why destroy them?

Mo Wen seized his target before the man realized he'd been caught.

His steel arm clenched slightly, crushing the lightly augmented skull into paste in his palm.

The headless corpse continued flying forward from its final command but crashed uncontrolled into the ground.

Ren Sisi's voice came through team comms: "Wow, that was fast. Also, feeling the joys of teamwork now? My skills are solid, right?"

"This guy had some dead-man's switch wanting to take others with him. Let me handle that."

Nearby, the newly arrived NPC Qi Shiming looked utterly bewildered.

The virtual world froze.
