The Undying Transmigrator

Chapter 14: Mutual Destruction?

Chapter 14: Mutual Destruction?

Vanessa searched for the monster amidst the chaotic wreckage of buildings.

After an extended game of cat and mouse, the area was littered with his traces - crisscrossing and overlapping to the point where following them no longer led easily to his location.

Judging by the bloodstains, he had lost at least seventy percent of his bodily fluids; one could say he'd practically bled dry.

An ordinary person in such condition wouldn't just be unable to move - remaining conscious would be an impossible miracle.

Meanwhile, who knew how many of his internal organs had spilled out? But clearly, the damage was far beyond what any normal human could survive.

Yet he stubbornly refused to die.

Even when biometric scanners couldn't detect him, when thermal imaging failed to locate him - like some animated corpse, he kept struggling desperately.

This abhorrent monster rejecting death's mercy still lurked in darkness, climbing, hunting drones, seeking counterattack opportunities.

Vanessa occasionally found drones destroyed or hijacked, but upon rushing over, the monster's figure remained elusive.

In mere moments, he'd slip through some hidden passage beyond her enhanced vision's range.Where was he?

In the offices above? Beneath the rubble below? Would he commandeer a swarm of hijacked drones, using the terrain to hide? Or was he operating alone, seeking an opening?

Regardless, his basic capabilities remained too limited.

Even if she couldn't maintain top speed indefinitely, she was still at least ten times faster than her target.

"I've got you now!"

The ion sniper instantly obliterated an arm too slow to dodge, but Vanessa didn't wait for her beloved weapon to cool - she discarded it mid-charge toward Mo Wen, drawing a laser pistol instead.

Pure precision proved insufficient against this death-defying monster.

Mo Wen desperately dodged, narrowly avoiding a headshot but losing brain matter and an eye, only for his spine to be precisely shattered by her final strike.

Bad, but within expected parameters.

Drones propelled his severed lower half toward the enemy for kamikaze impact.

No shock, no retreat... perhaps there was some, but Mo Wen couldn't see his cloaked adversary's expression - he only knew she breached the insufficient explosion, smashed through walls, and before he could perfectly escape via lower passages, she gripped the wall and slammed downward.

Well then, amputated below the chest.

Now his remaining organs were thoroughly finished.

Even for battle-hardened Mo Wen, accustomed to dying, survival seemed limited to mere breaths.

Yet he still fired his grapple, dragging his mutilated remains toward the trap.

Unshaken by another failed kill, Vanessa discarded her empty pistol, decloaked, and plummeted violently - ignoring the narrow passage, her vector thrusters erupting with searing flames to accelerate brutally.

Her impact forcibly widened the tunnel, compressed air becoming artillery as friction-scraped rubble transformed into lethal projectiles.

Mo Wen barely escaped capture again, veering upward this time.

Vanessa almost matched his redirection perfectly.

She noticed this space was relatively more open, sunlight filtering through cracks where several rocket drones - originally hers - now aimed to fire.

A potentially lethal trap indeed.

But nothing would stop her from delivering death.

Her arm stabbed forward like a blade, cleaving air itself, gutting Mo Wen who'd barely shifted upward to avoid decapitation.

Her hand seized his already stilled heart and crushed it instantly.

Now Mo Wen's rockets were point-blank.

She didn't dodge, instead hammering his skull with her briefly charged other fist.

Among military-grade augmented soldiers, Vanessa ranked low in strength and speed due to stealth specialization - but she remained military-grade.

This strike was a genuine supersonic punch.

Mo Wen's head exploded into unrecoverable fragments just as explosions engulfed Vanessa - her head taking direct hits vanished completely, not even military-grade materials preserving much wreckage.

But the rocket drones didn't enter autonomous mode.

Fully cyberized, with less flesh remaining than needed for stir-fry, the gang leader who'd successfully played dead observed this brutal scene silently through drone feeds - his speech module destroyed anyway.

Yet Dreamweaver Entertainment employees monitoring through him could still speak:

"Holy shit! Don't look away! Lock onto that maniac's remains - she activated self-destruct before dying! Attempting remote reactor shutdown..."

"What kind of grudge is this? Randomly showing up, reducing people to pulp wasn't enough? Had to add self-destruct for complete vaporization? Did she think brainsplatter was still salvageable requiring total annihilation?"

"Fuck! There's tactical nukes too!"

Though nearing death, the gang leader still choked up.

Seriously? More ultimate moves?!

The employee reassured: "This rapid response team's drop pods have anti-explosion systems - no nuclear worries. Just shocked is all."

"Brutal, but you survived with most augmentations intact."

"Mission wasn't directly successful, but defeating a rogue Life Pharmaceuticals military aug means massive compensation. Not just one million credits - two, even five million are negotiable."

Briefly mourning Mo Wen and fallen gang members, the leader grew dizzy contemplating astronomical reparations.

Mo Wen, Jueai's Mad Dragon, 78482... rest assured, your sacrifice becomes possibility for change, remembered by future generations.

Yet inexplicably, the leader thought he saw Mo Wen's brain matter twitching during this eulogy.

Probably imagination.

Regrettably, being just a head now, he couldn't collect Mo Wen's remains - but Dreamweaver's rapid response team was arriving.

No - they'd already arrived precisely two seconds post-climax.

Three military-augmented soldiers burst from drop pods impacting at Mach 52.

Building wreckage above the final battlefield was sliced and flung aside, revealing the scene below.

Silence gripped them observing Mo Wen's remnants, until a 1.42-meter-tall female new human in white robes emerged, sprinting over shouting: "Patient status?"

The augmented soldiers answered truthfully: "Totally dead."

Unaccepting, the woman frowned at the debris: "Idiots! He's still alive!"

"Quickly! Gather all recoverable brain matter into nutrient solution. Injuries this severe require my personal attention."

"Other body parts can wait."

What kind of ultimate unkillable monster is this?!

Awe filled everyone present.
