"I applied more hairspray. Okay, the make-up set is settled. I hope I don’t mess up," Da Mei commented.

Lin Fa and Ye Jun looked at her. The girl was nervous.

"MeiMei it’s not you going on the date. What’s up?" Lin Fa asked, genuinely confused.

"This is her first date!" Da Mei shrieked.

The two realized that the sisterhood was going through a drastic change. One of them is in love. They will be fed dog food, and listen to cutesy love moments between them, there’s also a possibility of arguments. They will also be a think tank for Su Lian when it comes to gifts or major decisions like meeting the family. The next thought that made them tired was Chen Kai’s new status.

The news of him being the new VP of Nanhe Group was shared between them thanks to Su Lian. They did their search and saw for themselves their friend’s influence in the business world. Da Mei and Su Lian understood vaguely the underlying competition thanks to their lessons. They never expected to see it firsthand.

"This is new territory for us. Whoever decides to go into a relationship next please choose a stable guy. They will be easier to handle than Brother Chen," Lin Fa stated firmly.

"Yes!"

Su Lian re-entered her room and saw the serious faces of her friends. "What’s wrong?" She made her way over and sat on the cushioned bench at the foot of her bed.

The girls looked at her with narrowed eyes. Da Mei sighed and prepared to start the make-up session. Lin Fa started the live broadcast after making sure the robe Su Lian wore was decent. Ye Jun shook her head at the absurdity of things.

"Su Lian, you have lowered our threshold for potential suitors," Ye Jun commented.

"What?"

It was one of those romance book moments. We both happened to enter XXX University on the same day, register around the same time, and chose the same major. It had two lines for registration because it was a large influx for the Finance Dept. My line was next to his with two persons as the distance between us. I thought it was senior but the girl said he’s a freshman like us. All they said was he was wearing a red hoodie and a backpack. I wanted to see how handsome this guy was. I got the chance when I was signing up.

Kai was different from the start. He didn’t talk to anyone around him, he didn’t look around like other nervous freshmen. He simply waited his turn giving off this ’don’t touch me’ aura. I was interested.

My line was faster in registering, so I could meet up with him. When I did look at him, his side profile proved how right those girls were. He wore a red hoodie, rugged jeans, and brown combat boots. He looked like an international model in those rustic clothes but what set me off was his messy yet styled hair.

Maybe I was staring too long, he turned to me and I was bowled over. I felt it, ladies and gentlemen. That love arrow was shooting to my heart. Have you seen his eyes? Those black jewels that glitter no matter the time of day. Ah~~

: He didn’t say anything. He just stared. I recall feeling a shudder running through my body at that time. It was unexplainable so I ignored it. I plucked up my courage and introduced myself. I thought he would simply say his name but he took my hand and gave me his name. I didn’t know what to say after that and I didn’t want him to leave as yet. So I.... um... heh!

The blush on her face became brighter. She covered her face in embarrassment as she thought back to what she had done.

: The thing about that day was that Kai didn’t push me away. He asked if I was okay and pulled me to his side to continue our registration. He didn’t talk much. He held my suitcase along with his, made sure I had everything sorted, and followed me to the dorms. I offered my WeChat but was rejected at first. I wasn’t mad. I understood why.

The bitter smile on Su Lian’s face spoke a thousand words.

: Brother Chen was and still is self-aware. When I heard this story before, my first thought was Brother Chen was playing hard to get but when I met him with Su Lian, I realized he wasn’t. He’s just self-aware about the social hierarchy. Su Lian was the noble daughter and he was the commoner.

: I didn’t like it but I couldn’t change my family background. I continued to chase him. Visiting him during class, buying snacks for him even staying by his side quietly. He didn’t mind. Su Lian raised her head higher, proud that her husband answered correctly.

: What about food? What are her preferences?

: Local foods are a wide spectrum. She will eat it all and prefer the spicy foods- mild. If it’s Western food, she sticks to vegetable dishes and meat dishes that have beef or chicken. She hates fish but will try other seafood when she has the courage. She’s a light drinker, only for celebrations.

Barrage: This answer comes from years of observation.

Chen Kai’s deep laugh was magnified by the hands-free speaker. The females in the barrage went crazy. Swooning GIFs filled the screen.

: Yes, I’m yours.

The blush was back.

: Please spare us, you two.

: Fine. Fine. Madam director, any more questions?

: Is there anything special you have planned for Beauty Su? You can go off the speaker and tell Ye Jun.

: I’ll let Lian tell... well show you when she returns home later.

The background noise in Chen Kai’s call was clear. The AI voice, the opening of a car door, even the soft speaking of a young boy were heard by all in the room and the broadcast.
