Chapter 686: Chapter 686: Last Night’s Near Miss, Harsh Words Said to the Extreme On the little printed booklet from kindergarten, Benjamin Leclair scribbled in wobbly pencil: Reflection letter. This morning, Benjamin was so sleepy, shui-ed without meaning to. Daddy got mad, Benjamin got scared. Next time, I won’t gan.

Benjamin’s big, dark eyes glanced toward his elder brother Nicholas, tugging at his pant leg quietly, and softly asked, "Where’s Mommy?"

"Went to Pretty Auntie’s house." Nicholas Carter glanced at Benjamin’s reflection letter, cringing slightly, and tightened his grip on the Rubik’s Cube in his arms.

Ignatius Leclair narrowed his almond-shaped eyes. Hearing the hushed whispers of the two little ones, he understood that Delphine had gone to the Squire Family. No wonder there were only two servants at home.

This area was within the Squire Family’s sphere of influence, tightly controlled—so much so that not even a mosquito could get through. The man reflected, however, that he still needed to insert his own people here. Whether it was the woman or these two little ones, they were his most cherished possessions. Leaving them on others’ turf made him uneasy!

Ignatius lowered his gaze, looking at Benjamin’s reflection letter. His face darkened instantly. There were three typos in a single sentence, and there wasn’t the slightest hint of remorse. The child seemed to think sleeping in was entirely justifiable, and had even turned him into an arbitrarily angry Great Demon King!

"Benjamin Leclair," the man called in a deep tone.

"Here." Benjamin hurriedly raised her little hand, her dark, watery eyes looking innocently at her daddy, and weakly murmured, "Daddy, you didn’t teach Benjamin those two characters."

"So, it’s Daddy’s fault, hmm?" The man’s voice was low, his tone deliberate, with a slight upward inflection at the end.

"Hmm." Benjamin nodded her little head vigorously, then quickly shook it, clutching her little bottom nervously. Her toes began inching towards the door as she pitifully admitted, "Benjamin was wrong."

The man gazed at her innocent little expression, torn between pulling her close for a spanking and holding back. His little daughter was as beautiful and adorable as Delphine, and though she had a mischievous streak, Ignatius simply couldn’t bring himself to hit her.

Benjamin felt like her tiny bottom was at imminent risk of "blossoming" under attack. She drooped her little head until she caught sight of Delphine returning with Pretty Auntie. Instantly, her large eyes brightened as she called sweetly, "Mommy, Benjamin’s here!"

Delphine had risen early to receive a call from Leah, prompting her to visit the Squire Family.

Last night, Richard Shaw had dropped by, sending over a shipment of fresh fruits and other delicacies that Leah loved via air freight. Leah couldn’t finish it all on her own and asked Delphine to bring some home for the two little ones. As Delphine returned, she saw Benjamin, thrilled as could be, waving exuberantly after her lazy morning sleep.

Delphine looked over and saw Ignatius sitting upright on the sofa, his side profile sharply defined like sculpted stone—smooth lines, breathtakingly handsome. Thinking about the events of the night before, she suddenly felt uncertain. The two had been on the verge of an explosive argument, exchanging scathing words without restraint. Seeing him now brought an undeniable awkwardness.

She could still take Ignatius to the hospital, but instinctively resisted letting him meddle in her life again.

Leah noticed Ignatius had come over first thing in the morning. She snorted coldly, instructing the servants to put the fresh fruits into the fridge and place the packaged foods in the living room. She then called out to Nicholas and Benjamin to come eat.

Benjamin was so ecstatic she nearly bounced up and down, but just as her little foot lifted off the ground, the man let out a cold snort. Instantly, the little girl pouted her lips, too aggrieved to move.

Seeing this, Delphine quickly walked over, pulling Nicholas and Benjamin into her arms. She asked icily, "What’s going on?"

The man heard her frosty tone, his eyes deepening, and pushed Benjamin’s reflection letter across the table. Speaking in a low voice, he said, "Overindulgent mothers spoil children. Benjamin Leclair slept till past ten and still refused to get up. She needs a spanking."
