Chapter 739: Are You Very Familiar with Nathan Leclair?
Nathan Leclair stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, quietly smoking. It wasn’t until the cigarette burned his hand that he calmly extinguished the butt.
Leaving might be better. Some truths were too cruel, and he had never intended to uncover them through Isaac Leclair. For that boy, Nathan still felt a tinge of reluctance.
But even if he were to go, he ought to leave a lethal fuse planted for Ignatius Leclair.
Nathan’s lips curled into a mocking smile. For so long, his older brother had been the benchmark, the exemplar, and the goal everyone his age aspired to. He would let the world see that this man could also make mistakes, could have weaknesses, and was not as invincible as he seemed.
Delphine learned that Isaac was going to study in the United Kingdom only after all the formalities had been completed. It was Ignatius who casually brought it up.
"Arthur White is over there. He’ll take care of Isaac. Besides, staying far away from Southeast Asia will be the best option for him."
Delphine, well aware of the complicated environment of the Leclair Family, sat in stunned silence for a while before saying, "When is he leaving? I’d like to cook him a meal."
"In a week," Ignatius replied, noticing her wistful expression. He walked over, pulled her into his arms, and sighed softly. "Then let’s have him over at home."
The next day, Delphine invited the Leclair patriarch, Nathan, and Isaac over for a meal, considering it a send-off for Isaac.
Ignatius stayed home the entire day, delegating his work to Arthur White. He even had several tea camellias and rare black peonies transplanted over from Emerald Hill Villas. While flipping through care instructions and holding a garden trowel, he heard that Delphine had invited Nathan as well. Feeling slightly displeased, he asked nonchalantly, "Why’d you think of inviting Nathan?"
What the man really wanted to ask was, "Are you that close with Nathan?" But that would’ve sounded a bit too jealous.
Seeing him put down the trowel and come inside, Delphine, still perusing her cookbook, replied, "He gets along well with Isaac. I couldn’t just not invite him, could I? By the way, can you help me cook the main dish tonight? Your cooking is better than mine."
Ha, cook for Nathan? Keep dreaming. The man smirked coldly.
"Do whatever you want; it’s just this once anyway. If they complain, they won’t get to eat again," Ignatius uncharacteristically refused, his refined expression betraying no emotion as he shamelessly lied, "Anything you make tastes great."
Encouraged by his words, Delphine smiled faintly, revealing her charming dimples. She tied on her apron, brimming with confidence, and set off to the kitchen.
By evening, the patriarch arrived with two grandsons in tow, just as Ignatius brought Nicholas and Benjamin back home. In the living room, the elderly man and the two kids swiftly got down on the carpet and started playing around madly.
Nathan, on the other hand, was admiring the carefully curated little garden. Seeing the array of rare plants, even exceptional deep-purple black peonies, he arched an eyebrow in mild surprise.
Meanwhile, Isaac had picked a corner to play his game. Just as the action reached its most exhilarating moment, a little girl in a fresh blue dress came running over, her steps light and quick. She tugged on the boy’s sleeve and asked sweetly in her soft, cottony voice, "Uncle, can we play together?"
After speaking, the little girl climbed onto the sofa, settling beside Isaac. Her large, dark eyes stayed fixated on him as he played.
Initially, Isaac wanted to refuse, but seeing the girl adorably tilt her little head with irresistible charm, he unexpectedly said nothing.
Benjamin, wide-eyed, watched the dazzling screen effects and intense gameplay. His excitement bubbled over as he clapped his small hands and exclaimed, "Wow!" His enthusiasm soon drew Nicholas and the patriarch over.
Finishing the game with perfect execution, Isaac glanced at the two wide-eyed little admirers beside him. The corners of his lips lifted slightly, and his brooding expression softened. With careless nonchalance, the young man said, "This game is really simple. I can teach you."
The patriarch, ears instantly perking up, eagerly listened as well, wanting to learn. Thus, the group of four formed the most age-diverse gaming alliance.
