the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 698: The Awakening of Magnus Leclair

Chapter 698: The Awakening of Magnus Leclair

Delphine felt a little guilty. Nicholas and Benjamin were her children with Ignatius Leclair. Although Magnus and Ignatius now shared the same body, they were, in principle, still two separate personalities.

"Honestly, the fact that you’ve returned is enough for me. I won’t ask for too much more," she said, lifting her head and trying her best to express her thoughts. "From now on, I’ll carry on with life, raising Big Ben and Little Ben."

They had been separated for so many years, and her Heart Realm had changed. She had grown accustomed to a solitary lifestyle and could take good care of the two children. As for the love they once shared, it was better left in the memories.

Ignatius Leclair’s gaze suddenly turned terrifying as he gripped her arm tightly and said in a deep voice, "What do you mean by that? Are you planning to leave?"

Delphine’s eyes flickered uneasily. While she was delighted Magnus had returned, this shared body was like a ticking time bomb. She couldn’t predict when Ignatius might reappear. Over the years, the psychological trauma Ignatius had inflicted on her was overwhelming; living with this man was something she found emotionally unbearable.

"Let’s discuss this later," Ignatius said softly, lowering his eyes to conceal the eerie gleam in them. "I miss the old times. Talk to me about the past."

Delphine’s eyes became misty, and she nodded. In the dim glow of the nightlight, the two nestled close, speaking quietly of days long gone.

Over the years, her personality grew indifferent. Those youthful memories were deeply buried, shared with no one. Now that she began to speak of them, the words flowed uncontrollably, until she felt her eyelids drooping, unable to keep them open. She leaned against the man’s chest and fell asleep.

Ignatius watched with a tremble in his broad frame as her small face broke into a serene smile in her sleep. He leaned down...

When Delphine woke the next day, her body felt uncomfortable. Thinking it was because her period was approaching, she didn’t pay much attention. What annoyed her was that she had evidently fallen asleep on Ignatius Leclair’s hospital bed. Thankfully, the bed was large enough. Quietly, she climbed out and fled before the man woke up.

For several days, Ignatius remained in the hospital recovering from his injuries, which were healing steadily. Meanwhile, the issues with the Cloud Family had been resolved without her knowledge. Ignatius mentioned it lightly: Melody Cloud would serve five years in prison for intentional assault. The Cloud couple had declared bankruptcy and were burdened with debts they’d have to repay for the rest of their lives.

When the Cloud Family incident occurred, Delphine’s father even called her once to share his reflections, though neither father nor daughter mentioned any intention to help the Clouds. Her mother’s early passing had countless ties to the Cloud Family, and perhaps this was simply karma—good or bad, all debts must eventually be repaid.

A week later, Ignatius was discharged from the hospital and expressed a desire to visit the children. During the week, Nicholas and Benjamin had been staying with the Squire Family. Delphine went daily to check on the little ones, but quickly realized they didn’t feel homesick at all. Rather, they had already been swept into the wild, carefree activities hosted by Griffith Squire.

Benjamin, in particular, was a standard foodie and a fan of good looks. The moment he saw the dazzlingly handsome, devilishly charming, tall uncle, he instantly forgot about his beloved neighbor "Little Shay" and spent his days darting happily after Griffith.

Griffith, being someone who lived without rules or conventions, pampered the little girl endlessly, holding her in the palm of his hand. To an outsider, they might have mistaken the two for father and daughter. As for Nicholas, he was utterly fascinated by the arsenal of mechanical weapons and couldn’t stop staring in awe, constantly trying to figure out their mechanisms. Over the past few days, he had essentially become Griffith’s tiny shadow.

Thus, within the span of just one week, Delphine realized that her two children were about to be stolen away.
