Chapter 695: Once You Start Something, It Must Be Flawless

Delphine walked out of the hospital room in a daze, her lips still carrying the faint sensation of softness. Her heartbeat raced, not only because Magnus had returned but also due to a long-lost thrill.

She leaned against the icy wall outside the room, her gaze misty and her mind utterly blank.

Arthur White arrived at the hospital and saw her standing lost outside the room. Walking forward, he asked, "Miss Delphine, why aren’t you going in?"

Delphine snapped back to reality and forced herself to stay composed, replying, "I came out to make a call."

Arthur watched her retreating figure, which seemed a bit flustered, adjusted his glasses on his nose bridge, and stepped into the room.

The man was lowering his gaze, sipping water. His handsome features held a trace of gentleness, but the moment he saw Arthur enter, his familiar cold demeanor returned in an instant.

"Miss Delphine seemed startled, even ran out barely able to make the call," Arthur remarked as he entered, sounding pensive. Seeing Ignatius Leclair’s stern expression, he shifted topics and handed him the medical report, "Mr. Leclair, here’s your report. The doctor says the concussion is quite serious; you’ll experience headaches in the coming days. Most of the injuries are just abrasions, no severe fractures. You can consider yourself lucky under the circumstances."

Ignatius responded coolly, "I took protective measures before the accident."

Even with such a violent crash, ensuring someone’s safety while rushing in didn’t excuse him from taking precautions—after all, he still had a woman and child to care for.

"The Cloud Family gave up resistance as soon as they learned you’d regained consciousness—they’ve already declared bankruptcy," Arthur reported on recent events. "Melody Cloud has been detained. How does Mr. Leclair intend to deal with the hit-and-run incident?"

Ignatius narrowed his eyes, his gaze brimming with hostility as he articulated each word deliberately, "I’ve given her plenty of chances. File charges and send her directly to prison. As for the Cloud Family, buried in debt, they have no path left to survive."

No one from the Cloud Family would escape after targeting him.

Arthur nodded without surprise. If the situation had been reversed, the Leclair Family wouldn’t have spared their enemies either.

"Leave Nanyang and return to the United Kingdom for now," the man commanded icily all of a sudden.

Arthur raised his head in shock, stammering, "Return to the United Kingdom?"

Ignatius glanced at him with piercing eyes but said nothing. Over the years, Arthur had always been his shadow, the person who understood him best. However, now wasn’t the time to keep Arthur close. Some matters, once set in motion, demanded seamless execution.

"I’ll be on a long vacation. During this time, you’ll oversee everything—but go wherever you please, just don’t appear in front of me," Ignatius spoke only briefly before his head throbbed with pain. He waved his hand at Arthur, signaling him to leave.

Arthur packed up the documents and exited the hospital room, taking a deep breath as his mind raced. Vacation, driving him away, leaving everything for him to handle—this was clearly the setup for a romantic escapade, just like years ago.

But Miss Delphine’s heart carried heavy scars when it came to Mr. Leclair. Could it be that he had finally made his move? Arthur found it a bit unfathomable, feeling like his brain had rusted completely. He couldn’t decipher the man’s intentions, only knowing that a long stretch of being overworked—a year’s worth of nonstop labor—was now upon him!

Delphine called Leah, informing her she’d be staying at the hospital tonight, then mentioned Ignatius Leclair had regained consciousness. Only after lingering for a while did she return to the hospital room.

Initially uneasy, she relaxed upon seeing the man asleep, exhaustion evident in his pallor. Only the subtle curve at the corner of his mouth softened into something devoid of cruelty or danger. She exhaled in relief, sitting beside his bed and staring at him in a daze before extending a trembling hand to touch his handsome features.

The man opened his eyes abruptly, catching her hand in his grasp as his gaze deepened, dark as ink.
