Chapter 634: Be Careful of Ignatius Leclair

Chapter 634: Be Careful of Ignatius Leclair

Cassius Turner’s tall figure was tense, trembling slightly as he spoke in a hoarse voice, "Delphine, sometimes when I have nightmares, I still dream of her. I can’t remember her face anymore, but she just stands there quietly, looking at me without speaking, and there’s a small child holding her hand."

Delphine saw his spirits sink, his whole being engulfed in regret and anguish. Her gaze softened slightly with pity as she spoke softly, "Sometimes I dream too, dreaming of my first child that I lost. His soft little hand clutches mine, calling me ’Mom.’ At first, I was terrified and heartbroken. Later, I longed for the dreams, so I could tell him that Mom misses him so much. Cassius Turner, if you can’t forget, then remember—it might not be a bad thing after all."

Looking at her pale but resolute face, Cassius Turner felt, for the first time, that Delphine Carter wasn’t as fragile as she seemed. In some ways, her strength and resilience surpassed his own as a man.

"You need to be wary of Ignatius Leclair. His intentions toward you are undoubtedly malicious," Cassius Turner hesitated before saying this. Now that the truth had been uncovered, the tension within him finally slackened. From now on, he would silently watch over Delphine and ensure her happiness. But the fact that Ignatius had dug into his past to force him out—such underhanded tactics were truly despicable. That man’s possessiveness toward Delphine was beyond ordinary, and Cassius couldn’t help but worry for her.

Delphine also realized that something about Cassius’s situation was amiss; hearing his words, she immediately suspected Ignatius had played a disreputable role in it. That man’s methods had always been ruthless, each move fatal.

"Last night, did he hurt you?" Cassius Turner asked bleakly, his face showing defeat. He should have followed and caught up last night.

"No, you don’t need to worry about me." Delphine gave him a faint smile and said, "Seeing that you’re unharmed puts me at ease. Leah and Nicholas are still waiting for me at the mall; I’ll visit you again in a couple of days."

Cassius Turner saw that even knowing about his sordid past, her attitude toward him remained unchanged, even slightly gentler. His eyes brightened a little, and he nodded.

Delphine left the hospital, met up with Leah and Nicholas, and bought a collection of adventure books for Nicholas. Then she called the Howard Family’s matriarch to say she’d bring Nicholas to visit tomorrow.

The matriarch was overjoyed and showered her with reminders, even offering to send a car to pick them up.

Delphine selected tomorrow’s gifts for the Howard Family, then left with Leah and Nicholas to head back.

Jane Hughes left the hospital and saw the luxurious Bentley parked outside its gates. A flicker of uneasiness crossed her youthful, pretty face before she walked over.

"Sir, I’ve done everything you asked. Isn’t it time to fulfill your promise regarding the money?"

The car window lowered, revealing the man’s handsome and chiseled profile. His chin subtly lifted, exuding an aura of refined elegance and noble arrogance. The sight made the young woman hold her breath. She had always thought that the gentleman her sister fancied, Cassius Turner, was good-looking. But now, seeing this man, she realized that some men couldn’t simply be described as "good-looking."

That innate aura of aristocratic grandeur—something no amount of money could emulate—radiated from his very bones.

The man nodded lightly, signaling Maximilian to transfer her funds.

"Leave Imperial City," the man said, his voice low, sexy, and detached, so indifferent that he didn’t even glance at her once.

"Alright." Jane Hughes instinctively replied, her stance unconsciously growing humbler.

The man had already raised the window. The understated yet opulent Bentley sped off into the distance, leaving nothing behind.
