Chapter 631: If Griffith Squire were still here, he would have gone to fight at their doorstep by now.

"As cute as Benjamin?" Benjamin Leclair tilted his little head and said worriedly, "Then would Daddy like the kitten and not like Benjamin anymore?"

The man’s cold and hardened heart melted at his little daughter’s tender and childish voice. In a low and raspy tone, he said, "We’ll keep a kitten just as timid and cute as your mommy, and we’ll dote on her together, okay?"

"Mommy’s not a kitten." Benjamin Leclair put his hands on his tiny hips, glaring with big black grape-like eyes, correcting him matter-of-factly.

The man chuckled softly. His little kitten would return to his arms sooner or later.

Delphine brought Nicholas back to the small villa. The tension she had been holding onto all night finally eased. After a sleepless night and reaching the peak of exhaustion, she took a simple bath. When she came out, Leah had already prepared breakfast. Nicholas had brushed his teeth, washed his little face, and was obediently sitting at the dining table waiting.

After breakfast, Nicholas went to read his adventure book set, while Delphine tidied up, preparing to visit Cassius Turner at the hospital.

Seeing that she hadn’t slept all night, with dark circles under her eyes, Leah snatched the items Delphine was packing from her hands and gritted her teeth, saying, "Let’s just take Nicholas and leave. If we can’t fight them, can’t we at least avoid them? If my brother were here, he’d have already gone over to beat him up."

If Griffith Squire were here, would Ignatius Leclair dare to be so arrogant? Delphine and Leah couldn’t outmaneuver that man in mind games or schemes, but Griffith was different.

Delphine reached out and tugged at her, saying softly, "Don’t be angry. I know you miss Griffith. I miss him too, but for now, we have to rely on ourselves. I’ll go to the hospital this afternoon, and tomorrow I’ll visit the Howard Family."

"Whether it’s the Leclair Family or the Howard Family, there’s always going to be some sort of prejudice about social standing. They wouldn’t want Ignatius getting tangled up with me, as long as they step in to stop it." Delphine spoke quietly, "At worst, if he uses Nicholas to threaten me, I could expose his double personality and he might not even win custody."

She simply didn’t want things to escalate to that point. She didn’t want Benjamin or Nicholas to suffer even the slightest harm.

"Then be careful over the next couple of days. I’ll go out with you," Leah nodded. "I think Professor Turner seems to truly care for you. The Land Family is also one of the renowned families in the Imperial City. If you have feelings for Cassius Turner, you should make things official soon. It might help you shake off Ignatius’s harassment."

Delphine took a deep breath and said nothing. Cassius Turner had already been beaten into a hospital bed. The Land Family, full of scholars, was no match for Ignatius. She had once felt some gratitude toward Cassius Turner, but now that gratitude had been shattered by Ignatius’s actions. She wouldn’t drag the Land Family or Wilbur Turner down with her.

That afternoon, Delphine went to the hospital. Because of the events of the previous night, which had truly terrified her, she decided to take Nicholas along when she left the house.

"Are we visiting Uncle Turner?" Nicholas Carter, just on kindergarten break, still carried his little pig-shaped backpack. Inside, he had packed his favorite adventure book collection. When he came across difficult words he didn’t know, he would jot them down and ask Delphine about them.

"Yes, Uncle Turner’s not feeling well. We’re going to see him," Delphine said, patting Nicholas’s little head with a smile.

"When we come back, let’s go to the mall. Is there anything special you’d like to eat or any toys you’d like to buy?" Leah especially adored Nicholas. Kids were just so endearing.

Leah thought of Casimir Shaw. How adorable and cute he was as a child. Over the past few years, Richard Shaw had trained him like a new recruit in the army. Now he’d grown into a young teen. Whenever Casimir tried to act cute or whine, he’d get smacked, already beaten so badly he’d end up with bumps all over his head. It was almost too miserable to look at.
