Chapter 624: If Agitated, Fight; If Defeated, Run

Leah saw Delphine’s worried look and was furious herself. Now that Delphine had a child, she couldn’t act like before—venting her anger through action and retreating to the Golden Triangle when things didn’t go her way.

In the three years Griffith Squire had been missing, Leah originally intended to take over the affairs of the Golden Triangle. However, she was constantly obstructed by Richard Shaw for various reasons. Now, aside from the subordinates who had followed Griffith through life-and-death situations, the rest were either annexed by local warlords or defected to other forces. Her power had diminished by over a third.

This was Imperial City, and Richard Shaw presided over it with control that was ten times stricter than that of the South Seas. Leah’s influence couldn’t penetrate here. Leah herself didn’t care much, but what she couldn’t stand the most was Ignatius Leclair using his power to oppress Delphine.

"Is there really no one who can restrain Ignatius Leclair?" Leah stomped her foot angrily and said.

"The Leclair Family is already a top elite family. In Imperial City, apart from the few major clans, there are hardly any forces capable of rivaling them. Besides, I have no ties with these people, and no one would want to offend Ignatius Leclair for me. As for the South Seas, the Leclair Family still has the second grandson of the second branch, Nathan Leclair." Delphine spoke with a hint of hesitation as she recalled the name.

Nathan Leclair had left the South Seas over ten years ago.

"However, Ignatius holds great respect for his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Hawthorne. In a few days, I’ll bring Nicholas to pay a visit to Mrs. Hawthorne and explain my intentions. Hopefully, she might have a solution." Delphine smiled faintly and comforted Leah by saying, "You don’t need to worry about me. After all these years, I’ve managed just fine. No matter how powerful he is, haven’t I been living well?"

"That’s true. Don’t worry, I’m here." Leah blinked playfully and said with a grin, "When are you going to introduce me to that professor you keep talking about?"

Delphine, upon hearing Leah mention Cassius Turner, slapped her forehead and laughed, "He’s just a good friend."

"Sure, sure, I believe you." Leah’s charming peach-shaped eyes curved as she laughed.

Two days later, Nicholas and Benjamin’s kindergarten had a holiday, and Ignatius Leclair brought the two children back to the villa. Delphine had been busy with movie matters for the past couple of days. With the kids away, she seized the opportunity to arrange a film screening. Besides the hardworking production team, she also invited Cassius Turner to attend.

The movie had already begun its promotional phase, and Kyla Zamora, along with her team, was overwhelmed with work—they called daily to complain about Constantine Stewart.

Constantine had taken a hardline stance, prohibiting Chloe Winston from participating in any promotional activities or roadshows during the film’s release. The young woman had been giving him the cold shoulder since returning from the Highland Region.

When Chloe arrived at the screening hall and saw Delphine and Cassius Turner, her eyes immediately reddened. Approaching them, she said, "I’m sorry, Director Gu, Professor Turner, it’s all because of me that you were hurt."

During Delphine’s hospitalization, Chloe had already come to apologize once but was still wracked with guilt. If she hadn’t tried to keep the crew from knowing Constantine was coming and had simply hurried back and forth, none of this would have happened.

"I just thought I’d make a quick trip and come right back." Chloe choked out, tearing up. Recently, she had even been discussing divorce with Constantine.

Delphine patted her hand gently and said, "It has nothing to do with you. We were careless ourselves. Look, aren’t Cassius and I perfectly fine?"

Cassius Turner had originally been hospitalized but took the opportunity of the movie screening to be discharged. Deep down, Wilbur Turner didn’t blame Chloe at all; he was even grateful to Chloe and Constantine. If it weren’t for the incident, he and Delphine wouldn’t have grown closer.

These days, even Ignatius Leclair couldn’t mask his displeasure when he saw him. Wilbur Turner couldn’t be more pleased with himself.
