Chapter 609: This is Nothing Short of a Catastrophe

Chapter 609: This is Nothing Short of a Catastrophe

Ignatius Leclair and his group found the Snow Cavern, and when they spotted the two fallen individuals, they were already unconscious, tightly embracing each other.

All the emergency needles had been used up, and the flashlight emitted a faint glow.

The man descended into the Snow Cavern, his expression cold as marble. Trembling slightly, he knelt halfway down and lifted Delphine into his arms. Feeling her faint breathing, his heart finally steadied. He signaled upward to Maximilian, secured her with a lock buckle, and had her pulled up before returning to rescue Cassius Turner.

Cassius Turner was in dire condition. Upon being pulled out, Maximilian administered immediate emergency aid, and the helicopter sent him directly down the mountain.

When Delphine woke up, her whole body was engulfed in indescribable pain. Buzzing sounds echoed near her ears, as if a man were speaking in a deep voice.

She moved her fingers and opened her eyes, only to find herself lying on a soft bed, the room warm like spring. Ignatius Leclair was speaking to someone. When he looked up and saw her almond-shaped eyes, dark as polished jade, a fleeting trace of surprise flashed across his handsome features. He approached her and said flatly, "Awake?"

Delphine blinked, trying to sit up, but the man gently pressed her back down and spoke in a deep tone, "You’re on my private jet, heading back to Imperial City. Cassius Turner is fine too, and the crew members are safely down the mountain, taking the next available flight back to Imperial City."

"What about Chloe Winston?" Delphine asked with difficulty, her voice hoarse.

Ignatius Leclair poured a cup of warm water, lifted her gently, and helped her drink a little. His brows carried a trace of indifference, as he replied calmly, "She’s fine. Constantine Stewart took her away."

The man noticed her injuries. Her palm-sized face was ghostly pale, her body covered in scrapes, yet she still worried about that little girl. His anger flared slightly. If Constantine Stewart hadn’t silently taken Chloe Winston away, how could Delphine end up seeking her out and getting hurt?

As Ignatius thought about Wilbur Turner, who was still unconscious, frustration surged within him. If Wilbur turned out fine, that was one thing; but if something went wrong, knowing Delphine’s personality, she might carry that burden in her heart forever. Despite all his calculations, he hadn’t anticipated this clingy, persistent kid would end up here, like a piece of stubborn plaster.

His mood darkened further. Ignatius had already arranged for a medical team in Imperial City to ensure Wilbur Turner recovered fully, leaving no injuries behind—no opportunity at all to cling to Delphine.

Delphine, now assured that everyone was safe, let go of her tension and fainted again.

The man fetched a warm towel and carefully wiped her hands, feet, and body to make her feel more comfortable before applying medicine.

The plane soon landed in Imperial City.

Cassius Turner was rushed into the emergency room, and Delphine was placed in a special care suite.

Wilbur Turner’s surgery was successful. Although he had sustained severe injuries—abdominal fluid build-up and several fractured ribs—the good news was his spine wasn’t broken. He wouldn’t be paralyzed, a small fortune amidst misfortune.

The Land Family quickly rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news. Ignatius Leclair handed over Wilbur’s case to the Land Family before staying by Delphine’s side, waiting for her to wake up.

"Mr. Leclair, you should get your wounds treated too, or they might get infected," Maximilian advised, recalling the harrowing events. Luckily, Mr. Leclair had been prepared this time, bringing Maximilian and the others along. Otherwise, waiting for external rescue wasn’t feasible; even if help came, there was no assurance they’d have the skill or luck to find the missing individuals.

Ignatius nodded, applied medication to his wounds, and sent Maximilian off to rest.

The man sat alone in the hospital room, watching the unconscious Delphine. His sharp, handsome features carried an air of ominous foreboding. As he faced the reality of the situation to come, even for someone as noble and privileged as him, it felt like an unyielding calamity.
