Chapter 528 You are the Worst Sisters in the World
After he recovered all his memories, he met Delphine twice. Those two meetings left his mood exceptionally dark for a long time, as if he were poisoned.
Although this woman didn’t affect him directly, her influence on his second personality was too deep—it was better to avoid seeing her.
Thus, when Ignatius heard that she had been imprisoned, though he was angry, he did not intend to visit her.
"Go inform Leah, and smooth things over properly," Ignatius said in a low voice.
Before he finished speaking, Richard’s phone call came in.
Recently, Leah had undergone surgery in Switzerland, and Richard’s attention was entirely on her. Coupled with Ignatius’s deliberate concealment, by the time Richard learned of the news, Delphine’s trial had already concluded.
"Has a donkey kicked your brain recently?" Richard sat in his wheelchair. Winter had already arrived in Switzerland, but indoors he wore a lightweight wool sweater. His handsome and resolute face carried a hint of gravity, and as soon as he opened his mouth, he began to curse, "Weren’t you two perfectly fine? How has it escalated into this in just a few months?"
Richard didn’t even dare tell Leah that her best sister not only gave birth to a child but was now in prison.
Given Leah’s temperament, she might actually crawl off her sickbed, rush to the South Seas, and perish together with Ignatius.
Ignatius didn’t get angry at Richard’s tirade; his handsome face remained expressionless as he said gravely, "We separated because of incompatible personalities; naturally, we drifted apart. Her imprisonment is her own stubbornness—I’ll find a way to get her out."
If not for the strict upbringing instilled since childhood, Richard would’ve cursed outright. Who the hell willingly makes themselves so miserable that they end up in prison? If Ignatius hadn’t done something, how could someone like Delphine, with her personality, act so recklessly?
"Ignatius, are you three years old this year? Didn’t you consider personality compatibility before getting married? After six years of getting back together and breaking up, now you’re talking about incompatibility? She’s in jail now, and this is your attitude? The child was just born, and the child’s mother has gone to prison. If the old lady knew about your stupidity, she’d break your leg without hesitation." Richard wished he could crack open Ignatius’s skull just to see the structure inside. No, he had to tell Grandma Hoh about this—keeping it under wraps would leave those two children motherless.
At Richard’s angry words, Ignatius frowned deeply, a shadow of dark light flitting across his eyes. Richard didn’t know about his second personality, and Ignatius didn’t know how to explain it.
He spoke hoarsely and lowly: "Have Leah come back to see her."
After saying that, Ignatius hung up the phone. Richard let out a cold laugh, as he thought Ignatius was beyond salvation.
Leah learned of the news that same night. Without saying a word, she immediately got up to pack her luggage. She took the midnight red-eye flight back to the Imperial City and didn’t see Delphine until near dusk the following day.
Leah looked at her through the thick glass, watching her in her prison-issued uniform, her face pale. Upon seeing Leah, Delphine even managed to reveal a faint smile, but instantly Leah burst into tears, crying, "You idiot, an absolute idiot."
"All these years, you’ve never treated me like your sister. Whenever something happens, you never say anything. Whenever you’re hurt, you never tell me. Delphine Carter, you are the world’s worst sister." Leah wept bitterly. Since Griffith’s disappearance, she had only Delphine left. Now Delphine was in trouble too, and Leah didn’t know what to do. All she could think was: why wasn’t it her instead?
