the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 499: So You Like My Wife?

Chapter 499: So You Like My Wife?

Ignatius Leclair brought seven or eight freshly trimmed roses back into the room and arranged them in a vase. Seeing Maximilian arrive with Old Fourth, his lips curled slightly, and he said in a low voice, "You guys can go ahead to the tea room first."

After speaking, he walked up to Delphine and leaned close to whisper heavily in her ear, "Maximilian brought Old Fourth, Ji An, a brain specialist. If there’s anything bothering you, just consult him."

Delphine’s brows furrowed slightly. She had met Ji An before. Why was Ignatius introducing him again?

Her expression cooled as she took a step back and said lightly, "We met years ago. Ji An said he didn’t like me the very first time we met."

Ignatius’ phoenix-shaped eyes darkened slightly. Delphine had met Old Fourth before?

His deep, narrow phoenix eyes swept toward Ji An, who jumped in fright and waved his hands hastily as he stammered, "No, no, that’s not it, that was, it-it was back then."

Ji An wasn’t skilled at communicating with people. As talented as he was in medicine, his cluelessness in life matched it proportionately. When he got nervous, he stuttered. Back then, Delphine had felt annoyed by the curly-haired doctor who didn’t like her and would intentionally complain to Ignatius, accusing Ji An of bullying her, just to watch him go red in the face, stammering out explanations he couldn’t quite complete. It was amusing. Eventually, Ji An got bullied by her so much that he started avoiding her.

The smile on Delphine’s lips gradually disappeared. Years had passed, and yet only Ji An remained the same—everyone else had changed.

Ignatius led Old Fourth and Old Fifth into the tea room. His handsome face darkened as he sat on a cushion in the tea room, his slender fingers tapping on the heavy wooden table bit by bit. His phoenix eyes narrowed as he fell into deep thought, silent.

Maximilian nudged Ji An discreetly, signaling him to explain. Miss Delphine was now Mrs. Leclair—although the marriage hadn’t been publicly announced, Ignatius had resorted to both soft and hard methods to take her as his wife, clearly treasuring her as the center of his world.

Old Fourth really seemed capable of anything—imagine telling Miss Delphine he didn’t like her the first time they met.

"Boss, I-I didn’t mean I don’t like Delphine." The moment Ji An spoke, Maximilian rolled his eyes hard, sensing disaster looming.

"So, you like my wife?" Ignatius’ phoenix eyes lifted slightly as he issued a slow yet firm warning, "Hmm?"

"No!" Ji An turned pale with fear. "Boss, you married Delphine?"

Ignatius nodded indifferently and, no longer teasing him, said, "Don’t call her Delphine anymore—call her Sister-in-Law from now on."

Full of possessiveness—calling her "Delphine" was exclusively his privilege.

"Leclair, maybe you should let Ji An run a brain checkup on you first," Maximilian coughed awkwardly, interrupting the somewhat idiotic conversation. Every time he was around Old Fourth, he felt as if everyone’s IQ had taken a nosedive.

"The equipment?" Ji An’s eyes lit up upon hearing about the checkup, and in an instant, he seemed like a completely different person.

"No rush," Ignatius’ phoenix eyes gleamed darkly. He looked at Ji An and said, extremely slowly and clearly, "Wait until your partner from six years ago arrives, then do the checkup together. What’s his name again?"

Ji An’s eyes glowed brightly, and he exclaimed joyfully, "Is Big Beard coming? Boss, Big Beard’s Chinese name is Ji Panda. Big Beard said pandas are national treasures, so he named himself Panda."

A chilling light danced in Ignatius’ phoenix eyes, the curve of his lips growing steadily colder as he asked deliberately, "Then what’s his English name?"

So, there really was such a person, someone who worked with Ji An six years ago in Southeast Asia, and provided him with some covert treatment?
