Chapter 475: Caught Cheating Inside the Marriage
Chapter 475: Caught Cheating Inside the Marriage
For the Leclair Family and the Yeager Family, this child is extraordinarily precious.
Bessie Leclair lay on the hospital bed, her face pale and her eyes red from crying. The young man who had been accompanying her earlier was nowhere to be seen.
Jocelyn Yeager had also been hurriedly summoned to the hospital. Upon entering, he saw Delphine standing in the corner. His handsome, fair face revealed a hint of surprise.
"Delphine, what are you doing here?" Jocelyn didn’t even acknowledge the sobbing Bessie and instead walked straight up to Delphine. His gaze softened slightly as he asked.
Though they were both in South Nanyang, Ignatius Leclair, that man with an extreme obsession for control, had kept Delphine hidden away so tightly that Jocelyn hadn’t seen her for over two months.
"You fool! Your wife is right here, pregnant and on the brink of a miscarriage, and you still don’t hurry over!" The Yeager Family patriarch coughed loudly upon hearing the commotion outside and shouted sharply in admonishment.
Sure enough, the Leclair Family patriarch rushed to the hospital accompanied by the butler. Before he even entered, his voice boomed from afar, "Bessie, Bessie!"
The elderly man shuffled hurriedly into the room, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
"Grandpa, you almost didn’t get to see me again!" Seeing her true supporter arrive, Bessie’s sobs grew even louder. She pointed her long fingernails toward Delphine and wailed, "She pushed me!"
Everyone’s gaze instantly turned to Delphine.
Delphine’s pale lips were drained of all color. Having been recuperating quietly for days, she couldn’t handle such a noisy and crowded environment. Just standing there for a while had already made her feel unwell. If not for Mrs. Li supporting her from behind, she would have had to find a chair to sit down.
"What happened here?" The Leclair Family patriarch froze for a moment upon seeing Delphine but promptly turned a stern face to question her, putting his cherished granddaughter’s wellbeing first.
The Yeager Family members remained strangely silent. Yeager patriarch had merely shouted earlier as a symbolic gesture upon seeing the in-laws arrive.
Over the past two months, everyone in the Yeager household, from the patriarch to the servants, had experienced Bessie’s temper. Spoiled and quick-tempered, she even contradicted elders at times.
Jocelyn didn’t pay her any mind, and Bessie, emboldened by her pregnancy, created new ways to cause trouble almost daily. After a while, everyone grew tired of it.
If not for the signs of a possible miscarriage, the Yeager Family wouldn’t have bothered coming over at all.
"Delphine couldn’t possibly push you. Did you do something yourself?" Jocelyn spoke in a steady voice, clearly familiar with her behavior.
Bessie was instantly enraged. After their marriage, their relationship had been nothing short of frosty. Now, in front of everyone, Jocelyn was standing up for Delphine, embarrassing her?
With a scream, Bessie cried rivers of tears and wailed, "Grandpa, look at how he treats me! Why would I even want this child? I might as well get rid of it. Divorce! I want a divorce!"
A fleeting shadow of indecipherable darkness flickered across Jocelyn’s eyes, but he remained unmoved.
The word "divorce" was something Bessie tossed around daily. No one in the Yeager Family took her seriously anymore; they didn’t even bother trying to talk her out of it.
The Leclair Family patriarch, fuming, struck his cane against the ground repeatedly and snapped, "Delphine, explain what’s going on here!"
With things escalating to this point, if she didn’t clarify the truth, an enormous, unwarranted burden would be placed squarely on her shoulders. Being kept confined in recent days, she had nearly forgotten what kind of battlefield South Nanyang could be.
Delphine lifted her eyes and spoke with cold clarity, "A pregnant woman wearing high heels all day, committing marital infidelity and getting caught, flying into a rage and starting a tussle—an unstable pregnancy is only to be expected."
The room fell into dead silence in an instant.
Such disgraceful accusations, lacking clear evidence, were laid bare before everyone. Both families’ expressions turned sour.
