Chapter 426 You need not feel indignant for Leah Squire, there’s a hidden story behind their marriage.

The kiss was suffocating. In the early spring season, when everything was awakening and hearts were stirred, the two had been delayed by those trivial matters. Forget spending time together—rarely did they even talk. Now sharing the same room, Ignatius Leclair struggled to contain himself.

Delphine was kissed into a restless state of mind, and when she noticed the man’s large hand moving to increasingly dangerous places, her rationality returned for a brief moment—she bit him hard.

The man stiffened sharply at the bite but did not press further. His deep almond eyes lowered, noticing her flushed little face. Yet, her gaze remained cold and lucid, unmoved by passion. Taking a deep breath, he said in a low voice, "Go take a shower and freshen up. I’ll have breakfast sent over. After breakfast, we’ll continue yesterday’s conversation."

After he finished speaking, the man reluctantly let go of her and walked directly to the suite’s outer sitting room.

Delphine froze for a moment, caught off guard. This man was always domineering—it was rare for him to respect someone else’s wishes. She found herself slightly unaccustomed to it.

Delphine got up and went to shower and freshen up. When she came out, she saw a brand-new outfit placed outside the bathroom.

She changed into the clothes and stepped out. Cloud Summit’s staff were delivering breakfast from outside—packed takeaway boxes containing both Chinese and Western breakfasts.

Seeing him drink coffee first thing in the morning, she understood that his eating habits were very Westernized. Habits cultivated from a young age are particularly hard to change—like this man’s innate dominance and assertiveness.

Ignatius Leclair was reviewing documents when he noticed her fresh, delicate face and the blue-and-white outfit he had picked for her. His almond-shaped eyes lowered slightly, a hint of pleasure flashing across them as he spoke softly, "Come over to eat. I’ll take you to the hospital later."

"What’s the situation with Leah?" she asked quietly as she sat down. Both of them were people who preferred silence.

From the full table of breakfast dishes, Ignatius picked two crab roe buns and a bowl of seafood congee, placing them in front of her and indifferently saying, "Leah Squire’s parents passed away, and during her youth, she was fostered by the prominent Lewis Family in Imperial City. The Lewis Family treated her very well—she grew up pampered. But after her marriage, some incidents happened, leading her to end up in Golden Triangle."

Delphine slammed her chopsticks onto the table. Her ink-black, jade-like eyes flashed with a hint of fury as she coldly demanded, "Who’s the bastard?"

Thinking about Leah’s health condition over the years, Delphine reasoned that since Leah had been married, her suffering must have been caused by her husband. The thought made her wish she could tear that abuser into pieces.

Ignatius paused his coffee-drinking mid-motion, noticing her furious eyes. They seemed to burn with a layer of fire, yet were enveloped by a misty sheen. Her typically pale and reserved face became vividly animated—a rare sight. He glanced sideways for a few seconds before realizing Old Xie had been cursed.

Ignatius chuckled softly, a hint of gentleness surfacing on his cold and handsome face as he said in a deep voice, "That bastard’s outcome was extremely miserable—his entire life was destroyed. You don’t need to stand up for Leah Squire; their marriage had hidden motives."

As for the grudges of the previous generation, the impact back then had been far too significant. Though twenty years had passed, few dared to speak of it anymore. As an outsider, Ignatius naturally wouldn’t bring it up and didn’t want Delphine dragged into it.

Watching her angry expression, Ignatius realized she still had an immensely stubborn streak in her personality. His gaze grew faintly shadowed, a mix of admiration and concern.

What followed was silence. Both of them were taciturn people—not prone to conversation. Sharing breakfast together was rare, and neither wanted to touch on sensitive subjects. The awkward peace held until Maximilian knocked on the door and said in a low voice, "Master Leclair, the Cloud Family has officially filed charges against Miss Delphine, accusing her of instructing someone to assault Miss Melody Cloud. Miss Delphine’s identity has also been exposed. Reporters seem to have learned of Miss Delphine’s overnight stay at Cloud Summit with you last night, and the entire club is now surrounded and impenetrable."
