the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 404: Just Take Delphine Back to the Golden Triangle

Chapter 404: Just Take Delphine Back to the Golden Triangle

Mrs. Cloud, seeing that Ignatius Leclair was impervious to reasoning, immediately turned to the old Family Head and said, "Sir, you’ve watched Melody grow up. Today, she’s faced with misfortune, and yet your Leclair Family is overturning right and wrong, disregarding the decades of friendship between our two families?"

The old Family Head furrowed his brows, looked at Ignatius Leclair, and said gravely, "You’re not allowed to meddle in this matter. If Delphine is truly responsible, the Leclair Family will never shield her."

Upon hearing this, Ignatius Leclair’s brows pressed lightly together. His face grew even darker, revealing neither anger nor joy.

The Cloud Family Head, hearing those words, sighed in relief and ordered the witnesses and evidence to be brought forth. Though the Cloud Family had lived in the shadow of the Leclair Family for years, they were no force to be underestimated. On the way here, they had meticulously gathered all the evidence and witnesses.

Leah’s expression darkened at the turn of events. She pinched Delphine fiercely and whispered angrily, "I told you that Melody would turn against you. Under no circumstances should you admit to anything—do you understand?"

Delphine lowered her gaze, hiding every trace of emotion from her eyes, and remained silent.

Soon, the evidence and witnesses were brought out. The evidence included surveillance footage from a hotel suite, while the witnesses consisted of attendants and wedding guests familiar with the intoxicated individual. All the evidence pointed squarely at Delphine.

Ignatius Leclair stared at the suddenly unveiled hotel surveillance footage, his face darkening slightly. That footage should exist solely in his possession; how had the Cloud Family acquired it? Unless, of course, they had acted ahead of him. Coupled with the testimony of the attendants and witnesses, this was nearly indisputable evidence.

At this point, it seemed increasingly like a premeditated accident. Ignatius Leclair’s phoenix-like eyes turned icy, exuding a chilling, ruthless edge.

"The witnesses and evidence are all here. What more do you have to say?" Mrs. Cloud, now bolstered by the evidence, tilted her chin upward and declared confidently, "Didn’t you want to hire a lawyer? Our Cloud Family will hire top lawyers from the Southern Seas and fight this case to the end. Let the whole world see the true, ugly side of you—this petty actress."

Delphine looked at Mrs. Cloud’s aggressive stance, her brows furrowing. She spoke softly and calmly, her voice subdued but crystal clear, demanding attention: "Mrs. Cloud, I also have one piece of evidence here. I suggest you return and consult Melody first to see whether she insists on prosecuting me. This evidence will only appear in court."

Delphine’s tone was resolute yet composed. Mrs. Cloud, unable to grasp the intricacies between her daughter and Delphine, sneered coldly and said, "Don’t try to fool me with your words. Our Cloud Family will never let this matter slide."

"We won’t let it slide either. If the Cloud Family is going to play hardball, the Squire Family won’t be a pushover." Leah, seeing that negotiations had reached this point and that the Cloud Family was clearly plotting to destroy Delphine, instantly steeled her expression, her delicate face turning frosty. She cared nothing for having antagonized the Imperial City’s prominent Carter family yesterday and now clashing with the Cloud Family today. If it came to it, she would take Delphine back to the Golden Triangle.

As the two sides faced off in the drawing room, neither backing down, the old housekeeper hurried in, his expression tense, hesitating as he addressed the old Leclair Family Head: "Master, the second elder of the Cloud Family has arrived."

Upon hearing this, Ignatius Leclair’s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly. Sylvester Cloud had returned? Beatrice Carter should have arrived as well.

"If they’re here, they’re here. The Cloud Family hasn’t sent enough people already?" The old Family Head furrowed his brows. The Cloud Family’s fierce protectiveness outmatched even that of the Leclair Family. At least, in front of outsiders, the old Family Head would put up appearances.

As they spoke, Sylvester Cloud entered, leading his second uncle, Lucas Cloud, who was in a wretched state.

Lucas Cloud’s suit jacket was battered and torn, his face marred with scratches, and streaks of blood stained his body. Freshly escaped from the scene of a car accident, he stumbled into the room. Upon spotting the pale and detached young woman in the corner of the drawing room, the fearless man, accustomed to placing life and death aside through years of adventure, suddenly found himself overcome with sorrow. Tears streamed uncontrollably down his face in overwhelming grief.
