Chapter 390: If short of manpower, go borrow from Old Xie; he can lend half the Military District’s people.

Leah’s eyes unabashedly revealed her love for the modified off-road vehicle, her hands itching as she contemplated. If she could take the other party down and get her hands on one, wouldn’t that be impressive?

"Nine o’clock direction, black modified off-road vehicle, the plate is... holy shit." Leah’s face turned slightly grim. That blatantly special license plate—it belonged to the military. Hadn’t they always been on non-interfering terms with the military? Or had Griffith Squire done something outrageous again recently?

Leah recalled how Griffith had mysteriously disappeared for quite some time recently, supposedly to investigate something. She immediately clenched her teeth and cursed that troublemaker again.

"Major General, they’ve noticed us and are changing lanes toward the city center."

Inside the black modified off-road vehicle, Fang quietly reported.

Richard Shaw raised his eyes and looked at the red supercar ahead. His gaze was calm as he said indifferently, "Have Team Two set up a blockade ahead and intercept them."

Nanyang Hotel

Ignatius Leclair stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the sunset dye the heavy clouds red. After a day of gloomy weather, it had unexpectedly cleared by evening.

"Mr. Leclair, the wedding is set to begin in ten minutes," Maximilian stepped forward and spoke softly. "I’ve assigned Dongzi to stay close to Miss Delphine for now. Any developments will be reported immediately."

Ignatius nodded slightly, his expression indifferent. "Tell Bessie to fetch Grandfather and have him see for himself how much chaos this marriage is causing between the two families."

The man let out a cold chuckle. In truth, Bessie’s selfish nature would prevent her from feeling any guilt even if she knew. Instead, she would likely seize the opportunity to demand more dowry. Fortunately, she was finally being married off. This troublesome burden would now be handed over to the Yeager Family—to wreak havoc there would be ideal.

Maximilian acknowledged the order and quickly left to inform Bessie. Moments later, he returned, his voice lowered and urgent. "Mr. Leclair, Beatrice Carter has been kidnapped. Along with her, Uncle Yunji from the Cloud Family is also missing. Our men were trailing them from too far back and couldn’t intervene in time."

Ignatius’s cold, sharp features instantly darkened. He glanced past the crowd to where Delphine sat quietly, waiting for the wedding to begin, and said in a deep voice, "Where’s Number Six?"

"I’ve already sent people after them. However, with the wedding today and the city under lockdown, we’re understaffed. For now, I don’t dare reassign Number Six’s forces to the pursuit," Maximilian said hurriedly. Today’s wedding was attended by the elite of society—deploying key personnel to chase after Beatrice Carter wasn’t an option.

Ignatius’s expression turned icy. Beatrice’s abduction had been within his predictions, but he hadn’t expected Stone Leclair to actually go through with it, also implicating Yunji in the process.

Ignatius’s photographic memory reminded him that this Uncle Yunji was a wise and broad-minded man. Years ago, he had fallen out with his family, spending years exploring overseas adventures as a seasoned explorer. Someone like this wouldn’t even register as significant in Stone’s eyes. This time, the situation didn’t look promising.

"Investigate the relationship between Yunji and Beatrice Carter," Ignatius instructed in a low tone. "Also, look into Yunji’s social connections—see if he has any internationally influential allies. Then notify them to exert pressure."

If this really was Stone’s doing, leveraging outside pressure was the only way to make him hesitate.

The man paused, his expression sinister, and said, "If we’re still short on people, go to Old Shaw and borrow his forces. He has access to half the Military District’s resources."

After speaking, Ignatius’s phoenix-like eyes coldly shifted toward the tardy arrival of Stone Leclair. The man entered with two secretaries in tow, exuding the demeanor of a polished bureaucrat, his smile warm and approachable.
