Chapter 388: After So Many Years, the Shaw Family in Imperial City Finally Noticed His Existence
The man’s spine was straight as a ruler, his thin lips pressed together. His expression was as cold as marble, devoid of any warmth, until a light knock on the door sounded: "Mr. Leclair, Miss Delphine’s gown has been delivered."
Maximilian had been waiting outside for a long while before seeing Mr. Leclair finally come over to open the door. The man opened it and left immediately, his brows and eyes seeming to be locked in icy frost.
The Gold Medal assistant froze for a moment, then hurriedly brought the gown inside. Had they argued again? Maximilian felt a bit worried—both of them had stubborn personalities, but the difference was Mr. Leclair, born of noble status, never lowered his head. It was no surprise they quarreled. A man who can’t coax his wife has no future, and Mr. Leclair was no exception—Maximilian couldn’t help but silently grumble.
Delphine’s eyes were still slightly red. She softly thanked him, then asked, "Have you seen Mrs. Gu?"
Mrs. Gu had previously left, but after the Cloud Family uncle and nephew went after her, she hadn’t been seen since.
Maximilian thought for a moment before replying, "I really haven’t. I’ll send someone to look for her, and let you know if there’s any news."
Delphine nodded lightly.
Ignatius Leclair walked out of the VIP lounge, his face grim, and his entire demeanor emanating an aura of icy coldness that kept anyone at bay. Along the way, he froze the smiles of numerous elite heirs eager to ingratiate themselves.
A knot of unresolved emotions weighed heavily in the man’s chest. For the first time in his life, he had proposed—a hasty and ill-considered proposal, true—but he’d been rejected. Not only rejected, but Delphine had cried.
Ignatius’s face remained stony as he glanced at the time. Seeing that Richard Shaw still had not arrived, he let out a cold snort and dialed Richard’s number, his voice devoid of warmth: "Richard, where are you?"
"Fishing." Richard Shaw sat in his car, calmly orchestrating his plan.
Ignatius narrowed his sharp eyes, exhaled a long breath, and said coldly, "You’re fishing in my pond?"
"Just fishing for sharks—clearing up your loose ends." Richard glanced at the time; the arrangements were nearly complete. Whether Griffith Squire was human or demon, he’d peel off his mask today and have a proper reckoning.
Ignatius let out a cold chuckle, a sudden wave of balance settling his emotions. The Squire Family’s ticking time bomb—Richard dared to prod it without fear of being blown to bits. Still, Ignatius’s foul mood kept him from warning him.
Since they were brothers, it was only fair to stumble together over women—to share their misfortunes equally.
"Good luck, Richard. The wedding starts in an hour." Ignatius said coldly.
"I’ll make it in time. I’m right around the corner." Richard ended the call after speaking.
Elsewhere, Griffith Squire sat in his office, his expression heavy as he listened to the reports from his subordinates about their losses.
"Since last night, our military base has been subjected to radio interference, and there was an hour-long communication blackout. Our people in Brocade City have been out of contact for two days, and we’ve also lost the signal from a research institute in the Northwest Desert. The only trace left by the assailants was a symbol. It’s..."
"What is it?" Griffith’s seductive, sharp eyes narrowed with hostility—it seemed they had come prepared.
"It’s the mark of the Snowfield Leopard."
Griffith’s already striking and dangerous face darkened further. "Where’s Leah?" he demanded.
"At this moment, the young Miss should be on her way to the Southridge Hotel for the wedding."
Griffith stood up, gazing at the soaring tower of the Southridge Hotel across from him. Today was Bessie Leclair’s wedding; undoubtedly, Richard Shaw was using the wedding as an excuse to infiltrate Southridge.
"Activate Level One security measures. Richard Shaw must be nearby." The man’s lips curled into a feral, bloodthirsty smirk, his enchanting yet treacherous peach-shaped eyes half-closed in that peculiar mix of casual menace. After all these years, the Shaw Family of Imperial City had finally decided to take notice of his presence.
