Chapter 344: If you really had the ability, you would have had Ignatius Leclair not returning home day after day.

Chapter 344: If you really had the ability, you would have had Ignatius Leclair not returning home day after day.

Delphine saw that he was willing to let her borrow it for two days, then looked around and didn’t see Isaac. She immediately nodded and said with a smile, "Then I’ll borrow it for two days."

If Isaac saw this adorable little monkey, who knows how delighted he would be.

Sylvester listened to her soft words of gratitude. Her small, palm-sized face was clearly plain yet exuded a gentle radiance. Her features were exquisite and understated, and privately, he found Delphine prettier than his so-called top socialite sister.

"You don’t even have a place to live, and you’re raising a monkey. Do you think this is your house?" Bessie sneered sarcastically, her tone dripping with disdain. She had gone to such lengths to dress up grandly today, yet these men seemed blind, as if they found Delphine’s shabby appearance appealing.

This was supposed to be her day. Sylvester snubbing her was bad enough, but now these men were playing with the little monkey in the garden for so long that not even Jocelyn spared her a glance. Bessie felt stifled with anger, and conveniently enough, she took it out on Delphine.

Delphine’s smile didn’t falter; she acted as though she hadn’t heard a thing.

But the smile on Melody’s face beside her couldn’t hold up any longer. No place to live? She must have slept in Ignatius’s bed—shameless Fox Spirit!

"Brother, what’s the point of bringing a monkey here?" Melody said with a grin. "Bessie’s pregnant now. If this little monkey gets too wild and bumps into her, I wonder how you’d handle that."

Sylvester hadn’t considered this possibility. Bessie, already arrogant and domineering, now walked with even more impunity due to her pregnancy. If something happened, it might even be pinned on Delphine.

"Hmm, you’d better take it back, Mr. Cloud," a man who had remained silent finally spoke with a low voice.

Sylvester looked at each of them, all seemingly unsupportive of him. Despite his usual good temper, he let out a cold laugh—what a bunch of hypocrites.

"I’ll send you something interesting another day," Sylvester said to Delphine with a smile, then mischievously had someone take the monkey away. If he couldn’t enjoy it now, then no one should.

As Sylvester’s monkey was led away, Bessie shot Delphine a hateful glare and twisted her hips as she walked into the side hall.

Ignatius and Sylvester were also called inside.

In the small garden, only Delphine and Melody remained.

"I heard Beatrice is your biological mother? Truly like mother, like daughter, both eager to cling to rich and powerful men." Melody called out to her as she was about to leave, her pure and sweet face giving way to a slight contemptuous smile.

Delphine froze mid-step and looked at her. Melody was dressed simply in a wool high-necked dress, elegant and poised. Whether it was her feigned gentle demeanor or her everyday makeup, it easily won people’s favor.

As the top socialite, Melody was much smarter than Bessie.

"The scandal about Reginald and me—is that your doing?" Delphine asked calmly. The man who had gone into hiding in South America had still been tracked down by Griffith’s men.

Melody’s pupils contracted slightly, and she sneered, "Reginald told you?"

Her plan was only known to Jocelyn, who was now seated in the side hall. Thankfully Jocelyn had intercepted and played the scapegoat after discovering it; otherwise, if Ignatius started investigating, she would’ve had to waste a lot of effort explaining herself.

Delphine didn’t reply but simply said coldly, "I’m mentioning this only to remind you—whether it’s us clinging to wealthy men or you scheming against me, neither of us is more virtuous than the other."

"Putting on airs of superiority—it’s really unappetizing." Delphine’s soft, black grape-like eyes were full of genuine smile as she said indifferently, "If you really had what it takes, you’d have long seduced Ignatius into staying far from home every day. Why would you have to come here and parade your dominance, hmm?"

Melody’s face changed sharply, struck at her sore spot. She raised her hand to slap her.
