the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1110: The Truth of That Year

Chapter 1110: The Truth of That Year

"I’m not talking nonsense. Among all the children in the Imperial City, only you have mysterious origins and were fostered by the Shaw Family in our home. Do you dare to say Richard Shaw married you because he loves you?" Pearl Landon said bitterly, "How many times have you even met?"

Pearl Landon only hated that the child chosen by the Shaw Family wasn’t her.

"The old lady of the Shaw Family directly brought you to our home. Among so many prominent families in the Imperial City, why choose ours? My parents pondered for over ten years until the old lady turned against the Landon Family, and then they understood." Pearl Landon sneered word by word, "Do you want to know? First, transfer ten million to my account, and then I’ll tell you the rest."

Crystal Landon’s face turned slightly pale, her thin lips pressed together. She picked up her phone and transferred one million to her, saying coldly: "If your information is valuable, I’ll give you another four million. If you’re spouting nonsense, I’ll call Clark Landon to come get you immediately."

Pearl gritted her teeth. Five million was also good; she needed money badly, not only money but to see Crystal lose everything.

Why should Crystal be able to step on everyone in the Landon Family to rise and live a superior life while she lost everything and was sent to the United States?

Pearl swallowed nervously, feeling a bit panicked, and said: "I overheard this from my parents; even if you know later, don’t say it was me. The year you were sent to us, there was a huge scandal in the Imperial City. A high-ranking official was arrested for corruption, and his entire family was wiped out. They had a three-year-old baby girl, and my parents guessed you are that girl, the offspring of that corrupt official. Back then, that family was close to the Shaw Family, and the Shaws must have secretly taken you out."

After speaking, Pearl saw Crystal’s face turn ashen and felt a thrill in her heart. If Crystal is really the descendant of a corrupt official, once her background is exposed, she will be scorned by everyone, and not even the Shaw Family can protect her.

"Who was that corrupt official?" Seventeen years ago, was it? Crystal felt a chill all over, her gaze icy as she stared at Pearl.

"I don’t know, my parents didn’t dare mention the name. You’ll have to find out yourself." Pearl became more excited as she spoke, maliciously speculating about the Shaw Family’s unreasonable affection for Crystal over the years, "Maybe it was the Shaw Family who reported on your family, stepping on them to rise. They’ve treated you well out of guilt. Why else would the old lady sacrifice her grandson’s marriage, making Richard marry you?"

Pearl spouted nonsense, not realizing she had guessed seven or eight parts of the truth, and seeing the pain on Crystal’s face, who was cradling her stomach, she smirked coldly: "Now give me the remaining four million."

Crystal felt cold all over, her hands trembling, instinctively holding her stomach. She didn’t want the child to hear any of this; he hadn’t been born yet and shouldn’t hear any of this. It must be Pearl babbling nonsense; she shouldn’t have met her.

Crystal shouted loudly, "Aunt Zhao."

Aunt Zhao had been standing guard at the door. Hearing the commotion, she quickly pushed the door open and came in. Seeing Crystal’s forehead covered in cold sweat, she hurried over, pushed Pearl aside, supported Crystal, and said, "I’ll call the doctor right away."

Crystal shook her head, reaching out to grab Aunt Zhao’s arm, and said laboriously, "Drive her out. Cover her mouth when you do. If she dares to talk nonsense, have someone cripple her."

Having said that, she raised her cold-sweat-soaked face, giving Pearl a warning glance, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes turning cold, her expression showing a hint of sharpness.

Pearl swallowed the insult ready to escape her lips. She was afraid of Clark, but for some reason, she was now inexplicably more afraid of Crystal, who had always meant what she said ever since she was young.

Pearl was infuriated, but seeing Crystal’s state, she might end up with a difficult birth, and she smirked coldly with joy, saying maliciously: "You don’t need to drive me out; I’ll leave myself. But don’t be smug; I didn’t get Richard, but do you think you have? Richard likes Luna Lawrence. If Luna stirs up trouble, Richard will still choose her."

With that, Pearl hurried away.

Aunt Zhao cursed angrily, "That vicious girl, Young Madam, don’t listen to Pearl’s nonsense."

Crystal’s face was pale, her palms sweat-soaked, and it was too late to ask how Pearl knew about Luna. Those two must be in cahoots.

Her chest felt tight and she was short of breath, grabbing Aunt Zhao’s hand tightly. Aunt Zhao nervously poured her a glass of water, soothing her back, wiping her cold sweat, her voice somewhat altered: "Young Madam, breathe, breathe slowly. I’ll call the doctor right away."

Aunt Zhao quickly pressed the buzzer.

It felt like an eternity, Crystal’s forehead soaked with cold sweat, when the doctor rushed in, performed a checkup, offered comfort, and applied pressure, finally allowing her to catch her breath.

"Madam may go into labor early in the coming days. She must not have any emotional agitation; it could affect delivery," the doctor advised repeatedly.

Aunt Zhao nodded repeatedly.

Crystal leaned half-reclined on the bed, closing her eyes with a slightly pale face, and thought about Pearl’s words, somehow believing them five or six parts. Recalling what Eamon Turner said in the morning and everything Uncle Haw had taught her over the years about survival, her heart turned cold.

"Aunt Zhao, you’re not to tell grandmother about today’s events, so she won’t worry," she instructed Aunt Zhao, her tone somewhat severe.

Aunt Zhao nodded.

Only then did Crystal close her eyes, pressing her sore temples, and with a pale face, fell asleep.

Once she saw Crystal asleep, Aunt Zhao carefully stepped out.

Eamon Turner had been waiting outside. Seeing this, he quietly asked, "Is the madam alright?"

"She’s okay, just got a scare. That blasted Landon girl is truly exasperating. I must inform the old madam and tell the young master to teach that girl a lesson," Aunt Zhao said.

"Don’t mention this for now; the madam needs peace and quiet. Once the child is born, we’ll settle accounts." Eamon narrowed his eyes. If the Major General received word and rushed to the hospital, tonight’s meeting would be thoroughly ruined.

Meanwhile, the Lee Family parents had disappeared since causing trouble at the hospital, leaving no trace. Luna Lawrence waited at home through the night. Seeing the calm outside, she had to make the worst assumption: her parents had been completely dealt with by the Shaw Clan.

She never really hoped they would succeed. Even if they exposed her, she had an explanation for Richard. After all, these years Richard had always trusted her. Luna laughed coldly, checked the time, changed into a pretty floral dress, put on light makeup, and took a fruit knife to the bathroom.

Pearl had called her, saying Crystal was upset, so she’d add fuel to the fire. If Crystal ended up with a difficult birth, it would be worth her effort in this performance.

Luna expressionlessly filled the bathtub with water, played music, and then sent a message to Richard Shaw.
