Chapter 1092: From Now On, She Will Try to Move On from This Relationship
When Crystal awoke, she heard someone speaking softly beside her.
"Major General, there’s no need to worry. Madam has always had low blood sugar, and now with the pregnancy, fainting is normal. She’ll wake up soon."
The man’s voice was low, tinged with displeasure: "She has been unconscious for an hour."
Crystal’s fingers twitched slightly as her consciousness gradually returned. She recognized Richard Shaw’s voice. Her long eyelashes fluttered slightly as she opened her eyes, looking past the tall and imposing figure in front of her, focusing on Mrs. Zhao.
"Madam is awake?" Mrs. Zhao asked happily, "Would you like some hot water?"
She blinked in response. Unlike the earlier coldness, her limbs were now warm, but her heart remained cold as she lay on the hospital bed, utterly exhausted.
Mrs. Zhao hurriedly mixed some warm water—not too hot or too cold—and unceremoniously pushed Richard Shaw aside. As a long-time helper of the Shaw Family, Mrs. Zhao had been with the matriarch for decades, watching Richard Shaw grow up.
But when it came to dealing with the Young Madam, the elder master had gone too far. If it weren’t for the madam’s resilience, this child might not have survived.
Carefully, Crystal sat up and leaned against the pillow, sipping some hot water, feeling a slight return of strength and a bit of relief in her throat. She asked softly, "What about the child?"
"Still there, still there. Madam, you’ve been pregnant for almost two months now. The matriarch already knows and is so delighted she can’t wait to come over. She’s having the kitchen prepare fish soup for you," Mrs. Zhao beamed at the mention of the child. This was the fourth-generation heir of the Shaw Family, the most precious of them all.
Crystal’s eyes became slightly wet at the confirmation the child was doing well. Such a good child, enduring everything just to stay with her.
"I don’t want fish soup. I want something light, not greasy, and without a fishy smell," she playfully shook Mrs. Zhao’s hand.
"Alright, alright, I’ll tell the matriarch right away. This is your first child, and you do need to be careful with your diet," Mrs. Zhao happily went to call the matriarch.
Crystal and Richard Shaw were left alone in the hospital room.
As soon as Mrs. Zhao left, Crystal closed her eyes and fell asleep, the smile disappearing from her lips. By not looking at him, she avoided angering herself and potentially harming the child in her belly.
The intense feelings of youth cannot withstand heartless neglect; they fade over time. Since he has his own beloved, she won’t impede him any longer. From now on, she’ll learn to move beyond this relationship.
Giving birth to the child would settle much of her debt to the Shaw Family. Afterward, he could be with whomever he favored, marry whomever he wished, and it would have nothing to do with her.
Crystal felt a chill in her heart, a dull ache. He had never liked her since childhood; she was the one who was too persistent, too demanding.
Richard Shaw saw that she hadn’t looked at him even once, her face pale and bloodless. He thought of her standing alone in line, waiting for the doctor, and felt a suffocating pain in his chest. He wanted to go over and touch her little face, but his legs felt as if they were filled with lead, refusing to move.
The man saw her bury her face in the blanket without making a sound. The room’s atmosphere was stiflingly oppressive, and he walked out as if escaping, only afterward finding it easier to breathe.
Out in the hallway, Donny awaited, a hint of cheer on his face, and asked, "Major General, today’s agenda isn’t particularly important. Since Madam is pregnant, should we cancel it?"
"Hmm," the man replied hoarsely, his face expressionless.
"Major General, the young lady you brought earlier has woken up and wants to see you," a young nurse approached, speaking nervously.
