Chapter 1079: Get Out of Bed
Chapter 1079: Get Out of Bed
Crystal Landon’s beautiful almond-shaped eyes were astonishingly bright, like blazing flames. Her fair little face was as smooth as jade, and her exquisite, glamorous features questioned the man in front of her, refusing to give an inch. She sneered coldly, "How am I unreasonable? Do you dare say you didn’t go out to see her on Chinese New Year’s Eve? Do you dare say that her living expenses weren’t paid by you? Do you dare say you haven’t gone to see her every day after work? Do you dare say that even Grandma knows about this?"
"I’m unreasonable? I’m so damn rational that I let you and that fake innocent climb all over me." Crystal got more and more furious as she spoke, trembling with anger all over. How could she have been blind enough to marry such a man?
"She’s the sister of my former subordinate, who sacrificed his life to save me. I can’t just ignore her," Richard Shaw was burning with anger too, but seeing her like this, he furrowed his handsome eyebrows, restraining himself from reaching out to hold her. Her current personality was already so arrogant and domineering, and if he indulged her further, he would never be able to keep her in check in the future.
If he hadn’t intervened, she would be under investigation for privately investigating a Major General. Richard Shaw thought about the recklessness she had shown recently and was determined to give her a proper lesson.
"So what you’re saying is, you want to take care of her for a lifetime?" Crystal laughed out loud at the extreme of her anger, sneering, "Now you’re providing food, clothing, and shelter, but I fear you’ll move on to the bedroom in the future."
Seeing her red lips utter words that provoked him, Richard’s handsome face turned gloomy. His mind filled with the thought of silencing her so she couldn’t utter any more words that angered him.
Wasn’t she just angry about Chinese New Year’s Eve? He would make it up to her. He picked her up, heading towards the bed silently.
Crystal was already weak with anger, her whole body tense, and Richard was not feeling any better.
Originally it was just a makeshift tactic in a fit of rage, but in the end, he didn’t know if it was out of anger or indulgence.
Crystal then realized that he had been restraining himself in the past. Her hand trembled as she reached for a cigarette on the bedside, lit it, took a drag, calmed down, lifted her pretty chin, and with languid eyes said, "If you’re done, get off the bed."
The man’s handsome face was sullen, and without a word, he took away the cigarette from between her fingers, stubbed it out, and said deeply, "No smoking. I’ll quit smoking too from now on."
Richard Shaw said this and carried her to the bathroom to clean up.
Crystal was completely devoid of strength, closed her eyes, and ignored him, only her body remained tense.
She actually didn’t have much energy left to argue with him. Every argument drained a bit of her emotions, and once her remaining feelings were all exhausted, they would truly become strangers.
The man saw her turning her eyes away, not looking at him, and his gaze deepened as he carefully carried her to the bathroom to wash.
Richard Shaw’s expression was stern. He had been in the military for many years, able to remain calm and steady in any crisis, yet facing this unruly, fiery young woman of just twenty, he felt an unprecedented panic. It seemed that no matter what he did, he couldn’t hold her in the palm of his hand.
This marriage that had been problematic from the start was now spiraling out of control, beyond his grasp. Richard Shaw pressed his lips together, suddenly wanting a cigarette. He took one out, paused with a stiff hand, and finally threw it into the trash can.
Quitting smoking, and with Crystal, taking it one step at a time—everything would eventually get better.
