Chapter 1058: I’ll Listen to You

Chapter 1058: I’ll Listen to You

Crystal Landon’s toes curled involuntarily from the husky voice and breath that lingered between her collarbones, making her feel uncomfortable all over. Just as she was about to speak, she sensed the man’s breath deepen.

"Richard Shaw." She was momentarily caught off guard and gasped.

The man groaned in discomfort, replying hoarsely.

Crystal felt that he was at a critical juncture, suddenly pushed him away, and flipped over to sit on him, feeling his grip so strong it could almost snap her waist. Bearing the tingling sensation, she asked, "Will you still order me around in the future?"

"In bed, you must listen to me; off the bed, I’ll listen to you." The man firmly grasped her waist and replied in a low voice.

During an irresistible moment of passion, she whispered seductively in his ear, "Richard, you have to treat me well. If you break my heart, I won’t want you anymore."

The man’s movements paused and he nodded silently.

When Crystal was utterly exhausted, the man finally embraced her contentedly and fell asleep.

The next day, Crystal slept till noon and awoke to find that the man had unknowingly changed the sheets, and even applied a herbal balm with a grassy scent on her body.

She curled her lips and smiled slightly, too tired to move even under the covers.

In truth, she felt less confident about this marriage than anyone else and tried to bridge the gap between them through the couple’s most intimate acts.

She understood better than anyone that if Richard’s grandmother wanted him to marry another woman, he would still oblige, treating that woman just as he treats her.

In his heart, work comes first, followed by family, and lastly his personal preferences.

Even though he doesn’t love her, he listened to his grandmother and married her, and made an effort to care for her and get accustomed to her.

She knew all of this before the marriage, yet she still chose to go through with it. Firstly, to repay his grandmother’s kindness, as she and Richard were from the Shaw Family. Frankly speaking, his grandmother was an extraordinary woman, exceptionally wise, but Richard Shaw was too rigid and inflexible. He handled work adeptly but was clueless about social interactions and domestic affairs, especially about women. Any slightly cunning woman could easily deceive him. He epitomized a male chauvinist who couldn’t stand weakness.

Crystal was worried about other women marrying into the family and manipulating the elderly grandmother and the dull Richard. So she decided to marry into the family herself.

Secondly, she genuinely liked Richard Shaw. From childhood to adulthood, he was the only one she saw who was steady and upright yet indifferent toward her.

Such a person posed a challenge to her.

Two days later, Richard Shaw left for the Southwest Military Zone and wouldn’t return for half a month. Feeling bored, Crystal went to attend classes. The buzz from the last field study had died down, so she managed to find a spot in the classroom and continued her low-profile routine of solitary daily life.

However, now whenever she felt bored, she’d send him a teasing message on WeChat.

He seldom used WeChat, and it was only because Crystal forced him to download it before he left, so they could stay in touch easily. The username, chosen by Crystal, was "Wood", while hers was "Little Fairy".

After changing her username, Nova Howard was shocked and sent a string of exclamation marks in their small chat group, thinking Crystal had a fever and was delirious. Crystal laughed coldly; she wanted him to remember that she was the little fairy, nurtured on Immortal Dew, and if he dared not treat her well, she wouldn’t hesitate to make him pay.
