Chapter 278: Couple’s Rings
Chapter 278: Couple’s Rings
"I didn’t expect things to be resolved so quickly. Darling, your efficiency is truly top-notch. I’m really blessed to be able to marry you!"
Maya Monroe never holds back on compliments, especially when it doesn’t cost a thing.
Ian Rowe let out a soft laugh, "You’re exceptional at giving compliments."
"Not at all, not at all. Everything I say is the truth, without even a hint of falsehood!"
"You’ve been busy outside for so long. You must be hungry by now, right? Let’s go have dinner."
In fact, she was starting to feel a bit hungry. She hadn’t noticed it before, but now the hunger was becoming hard to ignore.
"Wait a moment, I have a gift for you." His voice was as composed and calm as ever, but there was a trace of anticipation in his deep eyes.
The maid, Mrs. Wang, smiled as she quietly left, not wanting to disturb the couple’s private time.
Maya snapped out of her daze, not expecting Ian to have prepared a gift for her. Although Ian never refused her and provided her with the best life, this was the first time he actively gave a gift.
She couldn’t even associate the words "gift-giving" with Ian.
"Why did you suddenly think of giving me a gift? Were you held up outside because of this gift?"
Ian didn’t answer. He lowered his gaze and took out a gift box, slowly unwrapping it to reveal a simple yet elegant little box, which looked quite exquisite.
When he opened the box, a pair of rings was revealed. The lady’s ring had a brilliant and transparent sapphire in the center, surrounded by small diamonds. The man’s ring was simpler, but the design was quite beautiful.
Seeing the gift inside, Maya was indeed stunned for a moment.
She never would have thought Ian would give her a ring...
"There was originally just one diamond ring, but then I had another one made to pair them. Don’t they seem like a perfect match, destined to be together? Earlier you gave me cookies, so consider these rings a return gift." His tone was calm, as if his words were not at all extraordinary.
He gently took out the ring, his jawline subconsciously tensing, giving off a sense of solemnity, yet his voice was soft, "Here, let me help you try it on."
It was the first time Maya had heard of someone giving a ring as a return gift. She slowly extended her hand and felt the cold touch envelop her finger.
The dazzling diamond contrasted against her jade-like finger, creating an extraordinary visual effect.
Ian watched for a moment, finally breaking into a smile.
He complimented, "It suits you well."
Ian then handed the box to her again, his gaze intently fixed on her, "Help me put mine on."
Maya picked up the ring, feeling somewhat absent-minded, "I remember we already have wedding rings, right? Why buy another one?"
Though neither she nor Ian had worn the wedding ring much, it did exist, supposedly prepared at great expense by his grandmother.
"This is different." Ian’s expression showed a hint of complexity before he said lightly, "I lost that ring long ago."
"You lost it?!"
He casually responded, "Let’s not talk about those things. What’s past is past."
His gaze was deep, carrying a hidden meaning.
Maya’s mind was a mess. What did he mean? Why was he saying such strange things? Could it be he already knew she wasn’t the original?
No, that’s impossible...
Under Ian’s intense gaze, Maya awkwardly put the ring on him. Without any experience, her actions appeared a bit clumsy.
"No, not that finger, it’s here..." Ian seriously, guiding her hand to put it on his ring finger.
"Okay, done..." she said absentmindedly.
Ian clasped Maya’s hand with his fingers, then slowly raised their intertwined hands.
The soft and bright light from the crystal chandelier shone on the touching rings, making the small diamonds seem to sparkle.
Ian couldn’t help but smile. He leaned forward to embrace Maya, resting his chin on her slim shoulder and sighed contentedly, "It’s beautiful, don’t you think, Maya?"
His gaze was almost glued to their interlocked fingers, the rings on their ring fingers serving as the best proof that they had each other.
Maya’s elusive nature made her hard to pin down, like a slippery eel. Ian was unsure he could firmly grasp her heart, so he chose another way to bind them together.
Ian unconsciously tightened his grip on her hand, making the two rings fit more snugly, like vines growing together, inseparable.
His unignorable breath came from behind, and Maya felt like she was leaning against a large furnace. She couldn’t help but step forward to relax, but the iron arms behind her held her firmly.
Gentle whispers sounded in her ear, carrying his unique warmth:
"From the moment I first saw the rings, I knew they had to be yours."
His hot breath lingered by her ear, and the spot on her ring finger felt warm as well.
At this crucial moment, she happened to hear his final words.
He said:
"Maya, I really like you."

While Ian went to take a shower, Maya was still staring at the ring on her hand, lost in thought. As if burned, she quickly pulled the ring off.
That’s when she noticed there were letters on the inside of the ring: y.
Maya rubbed her eyes to ensure she wasn’t seeing things. This kind of scene often appeared in dramas, how did Ian, who didn’t understand romance, learn this?
Not far away, she heard the sound of a door opening, followed by footsteps approaching. Quickly, she slipped the ring back on.
She pressed her forehead in annoyance, swearing softly.
It’s just a ring, why is she so bothered?

"Tristan, I really didn’t expect you to invite me out." The man’s body was slightly plump, with a mustache at the corner of his mouth and shiny shoes on his feet.
"Samuel, we’re old classmates after all. I knew you wouldn’t stand me up."
Tristan Rowe personally offered him a cup of tea, "This is a tea I’ve recently taken a liking to. Not sure if it suits your tastes."
Samuel Fisher subtly glanced around the office, "I’ve heard you started a company abroad and became a big boss. Now I see it’s true." He praised, "You have a great future ahead."
Tristan gave a faint smile, "What are you saying, Samuel? Aren’t you also running a company? I should say you’re the real boss."
Samuel hastily waved his hand, embarrassed, "How can I compare to you? I’m just living off my family’s legacy. This company was passed down from my grandfather. You’ve built yours from scratch, that’s truly impressive."
