Chapter 267: Kiki Monroe’s Baffling Moves
Chapter 267: Kiki Monroe’s Baffling Moves
Kiki certainly didn’t want to give it to her. The two of them discreetly fought over it in front of everyone, and in the end, Kiki’s hand slipped, and the cup rolled directly onto the floor, coincidentally near Laura Ward’s foot.
It ended up being quite a joke.
Kiki suppressed her inner anger, picked up the cup, and forced a smile: "I’m really sorry, I didn’t hold it steady. I’ll go wash the cup first."
Laura stood up: "Let me do it. You guys don’t even know what kind of tea he likes. You go take a break."
Kiki had no choice but to hand over the cup.
Jessica Young naturally also felt the awkwardness. She retreated to her seat.
Elaine Sinclair came over with a mop and cleaned up the tea stains on the floor.
Kiki sat back in her seat, slowly clenching her hand.
[qqq: What’s going on? What are they doing?]
[WideWide: Kiki’s actions are really confusing... Did she just snatch it from her hand? Trying to be nice might be too much!]
[JinJin: As a fan of Kiki, I’m shocked myself. How could someone as sweet and sensible as Kiki...]
[Unknown: It seems like no one’s true colors can hide under the livestream. I’ve long noticed her demeanor, and I wonder if they’re embarrassed. I saw Laura’s face change.]
[YangLiuFei: Rena is so adorable, just sitting quietly nearby eating an apple, like a cute hamster.]
[PutuPutu: Except for Maya snacking on sunflower seeds, everyone else seems keen to showcase themselves...]
[OneStreet: It’s not too bad. Miles Wallace and Jamie Miller don’t talk much.]
...
Having not eaten sunflower seeds in a long time, Maya instinctively grabbed a few more handfuls.
The sweet ones tasted pretty good.
Towards noon, Laura proposed to cook, and Elaine went to help.
Miles Wallace, eager to learn cooking, also went into the kitchen. After he left, Kiki stood up as well.
"I’m afraid they might be too busy, I’ll go help too."
No one dared to confirm whether Laura had the return stone in hand. They couldn’t just let Miles take the lead.
At this time, they had already lost a lot. Maya’s group, having mingled extensively in the village before, was pretty close with the village chief’s family. The most likely group to get the return stone was Maya’s.
Kiki felt a strong sense of unwillingness in her heart. She had worked so hard to get into this popular reality show and endured so much hardship to shine. How could she bear to let Maya step on her...
Justin Morgan wanted to get up as well, but stayed upon receiving a look from Kiki.
Maya had no talent for cooking, so she naturally wouldn’t want to go to the kitchen.
The village chief pushed the plate of sunflower seeds towards Maya.
He asked kindly, "Do you find the sunflower seeds tasty?"
"They are." She nodded.
"I appreciate your intention, but next time, don’t bring gifts. They’re too expensive."
Maya shook her head: "We’ve crashed many meals at your house without seeing you driving us away."
The village chief was amused by her and had to give in: "I appreciate your kind intentions."
Even though Kiki grew up in a small town, she had hardly experienced any hardships and wasn’t well-versed in cooking.
Her unfamiliarity showed in her slow and clumsy actions, almost bungling it all.
"Crash!" The crisp sound of a plate hitting the floor.
Kiki bent down to pick it up, inadvertently touching a sharp edge with her fingertip. She quickly raised her hand to check, fortunately not bleeding.
Laura heard the noise, turned around, and seeing Kiki unharmed, sighed in relief: "You’ve never been in a kitchen, have you? Maybe you should rest at the front."
Kiki felt unwilling inside, but she wasn’t foolish. She knew staying would only bring more ridicule. In a soft voice, she apologized: "It’s my fault, I couldn’t hold it steady..."
She slightly lowered her head, looking somewhat pitiable.
For some reason, Laura didn’t like this demeanor of hers.
"Go and rest, we three can handle this here."
Before leaving, Kiki saw Miles skillfully cutting vegetables, his movements fluid and impressive.
She concealed her expression and walked out. In hindsight, she realized she was a bit impulsive, and she had to carefully consider her next move.
Seeing Kiki return, Justin Morgan excitedly asked, "Kiki, did you finish cooking so quickly?"
"No, I’m not very good at cooking, so I came back."
Upon a closer look, Justin noticed Kiki’s eyes were slightly red, as if she’d been crying. He angrily asked, "Did someone bully you? Was it that cold guy? Tell me, and I’ll help you get back at them!"
Suddenly, all eyes were on her, and Kiki couldn’t help but curse Justin for being foolish. She denied it: "Why would anyone bully me? It was just the onions I was chopping."
"Oh no, why were you chopping onions? They’re so stinging to the eyes!"
Maya remained seated in her spot, leisurely snacking on sunflower seeds.
Yet, Justin’s chatter grew more uncontrollable, like a blaring loudspeaker.
"Shut up and sit quietly."
Upon hearing the familiar cold rebuke, Justin shivered subconsciously and closed his mouth out of reflex. He couldn’t help but sidle up closer to Kiki, seeking some support.
Kiki slightly distanced herself from Justin, criticizing Maya without mercy: "Maya, I think you went too far. Couldn’t you be a bit more tactful? It’s just that I feel your tone wasn’t very good, isn’t there a saying..."
She hadn’t finished before the other interrupted with a cold sneer: "You seem to care a lot, I just have a bad temper."
Maya’s straightforward acknowledgment left Kiki at a loss for words, feeling uncomfortable. She finally forced a smile: "As long as you understand..."
With all the dishes finally served, the clock pointed to one o’clock.
"Sorry for the wait," Laura said.
Maya got up to help serve the dishes. There were at least ten dishes on the table, plus three soups, making for quite a feast.
The food looked and smelled incredible. Maya really enjoyed crashing meals here.
All the dishes were made using Chinese cooking methods. Kiki tried a few bites and the flavors were unexpectedly good. She was still puzzled by how they sourced the ingredients; surely, the crew didn’t provide them?
Aside from Maya, the other guests were too preoccupied with their thoughts to enjoy much.
After the meal, Maya accompanied Rena to fly a kite in the courtyard. Unfortunately, the wind wasn’t strong today, causing the kite to easily fall.
Once everyone was full and had chatted away, the village chief finally approached today’s main topic.
