Chapter 261: The Power of Love
Chapter 261: The Power of Love
"Why?" Justin Morgan questioned, "Isn’t this favoritism? You’ve already helped Maya Monroe, so why can’t you help us?"
The guide shook his head slowly and said seriously, "No one can handle this umbrella except me."
Justin almost laughed in anger, "Do you really think I’ll believe your nonsense because you say it so seriously? What kind of broken umbrella can only you use? It’s already good enough that I didn’t mind how ugly it is! If you’re going to make excuses, at least find a more decent one. Don’t spout such nonsense!"
Speaking so mysteriously, it was clear he was deliberately brushing him off, making Justin even more infuriated.
"My umbrella is ugly?"
With a slight movement of his hand, the floral umbrella closed. He held the handle with one hand, the tip of the umbrella pointing directly at Justin’s vulnerable neck.
The guide’s face unusually showed no hint of a smile, displaying a stern coldness, "Respect should be kept for people, and the same goes for umbrellas. How can you casually insult its appearance?"
A glint of coldness flashed in his eyes, and he pressed the umbrella tip forward a little, "Don’t you agree?"
Justin swallowed unconsciously, realizing that the tip of this umbrella was sharper than that of a typical umbrella. It was poised just three centimeters from his neck, as if it could turn into a murder weapon at any second.
Justin took a step back, shouting loudly to cover his nervousness, "You’re crazy!"
The way he talked in riddles wasn’t any different from how he acted, reinforcing Justin’s suspicion that the guide was mentally unstable, and it was safer to keep distance from a lunatic.
The guide leisurely retracted the umbrella, yet his face stayed cold, "Weren’t you asking why I didn’t help you? Let me tell you again."
"Because I don’t like your face."
The statement was final, leaving no room for further argument from anyone else.
Kiki Monroe, who had been subtly observing from the back, spoke softly, "It was indeed rude of us to speak that way earlier. I apologize on his behalf; could you please lend us the sun umbrella now?"
She was earnest, "The sun umbrella is really important to us. I know your show can provide plenty of supplies, so we would really appreciate it!"
"No."
His words were firm and indifferent, leaving Kiki a bit stunned. She asked instinctively, "Why?"
"Because—you also don’t suit my taste."
His eyes were cold, leaving no room for negotiation.
He then stood up, not bothering to say more, and turned to leave.
The surrounding cameras continued to dutifully work, capturing this scene of conflict between the guests and the guide without anyone stepping in to stop it. After all, for them, this kind of "conflict" helps boost the show’s popularity.
Kiki clenched her hands tightly, thinking she was already past caring about these things...
Why does everyone favor Maya?!
"Kiki..." Justin called her weakly, comforting, "That guide is nuts, let’s not deal with him! You can use my coat for shade; we don’t care for his lousy stuff!"
Kiki forced a smile, "It’s okay with me..."
Justin felt a pang of heartache and reached out to take her hand.
Kiki subtly turned away, her tone light and airy, "Let’s go to the hardware store instead."
[WoWo: The guests and guide had a showdown, what a sight! This is the first time in two seasons, right!]
[Gagaga: Did Kiki forget she’s on live broadcast? I saw her standing behind Justin ages ago, and it took her so long to step up...]
[qqq: Let’s just say Justin definitely threw a tantrum for a beauty, right! (dog head)]
[Pudong Pukun: Justin usually isn’t this impulsive and brainless. I mean, it was never this bad before; why does he act possessed after meeting Kiki? That Jessica too, started off mean but now is smiley facing Kiki.]
[Smile More, Ten Years Less: "Discussing Kiki’s Charm"]
[Period: Suddenly find the guide super handsome, especially the part with the umbrella was killer!]
[No Words: Agree with the above, the guide really has a suave demeanor, and those eyes are so good looking!]

"Increase the brightness, turn up the volume."
Vincent Summers did as instructed, and what played on the screen was Maya Monroe’s live stream.
To be honest, Vincent Summers never thought he’d one day see Ian Rowe doing anything in the office that wasn’t work-related.
This kind of entertainment program was something he always disdained before, but now his eyes were glued to the stream.
Even when Ian Rowe had work scheduled or video meetings, the playback on the office’s big screen didn’t stop.
As long as the stream was on, Ian watched.
Vincent felt this distraction was inefficient for work, yet Ian’s bizarre talents meant his work efficiency didn’t decrease one bit, and even showed slight inclines.
The reason, Vincent concluded, was "the power of love."
After Maya participated in the show, Ian began obsessing... Rather, began missing her while watching the stream.
This period often marked a high risk zone, as Maya had gained a new male partner.
A tender nineteen-year-old, like a fresh green onion, pleasing to the eye.
Vincent’s gaze shifted again to Ian’s aloof handsome face, but he still believed Ian was the most outstanding, not limited to appearances.
With a perfect arc, his pen landed on the table with a sudden thud, sending shivers down Vincent’s spine.
"Wh-what is it?"
No need to guess, it was clear the boss was displeased again.
"When will those two be separated?" Ian’s chilly voice was clearly directed at something on the screen.
His gaze settled on the youthful handsome face on-screen, increasingly finding it an eyesore.
Thinking about how they’d be in that house together due to the program’s arrangements made his body feel restless.
"About that..." Vincent thought for a moment, offering a neutral answer, "The show should end when they find that stone, and then they can return."
"I’d say, Ian, don’t overthink it. They seem like they are just helping each other out, nothing to over-interpret."
Ian sneered coldly.
He’d seen Miles Wallace’s gaze more than once, brazenly undisguised.
Realizing his words didn’t sit right with Ian, Vincent decided to shut his mouth and say no more.
The camera rolled over in the live stream, showing Maya and Miles back at their shabby little place, sitting by the table and living off tomatoes.
Vincent couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, thinking Maya probably never had to live on just veggies like this.
Sure enough.
A dissatisfied voice sounded again, "Why is she still eating this?"
