The Tokyo Police Journey Begins with the Ability to See Evil Thoughts

Chapter 67

Chapter 67

"Why is Inspector Kamiya back?"

The nurse, who had been sitting there playing a boring Sudoku game, was surprised to see Kamiya Gen walking over and immediately stood up.

"Ms. Goto, could you please arrange a hospital room for me?"

"Did you accidentally aggravate your wound?" Goto Yuri stepped forward, wanting to check the injury on his shoulder.

Kamiya Gen shook his head and replied:

"No, it's just that my injury hasn't healed yet, so I thought it would be better to come back and stay here... Going through the normal procedure would require registering, which is a bit troublesome, so I'm wondering if it can be done faster through you."

"Oh, I see... Sure, I'll check which available ward you can use."

Yuri Goto nodded, ran back to her post, took out a stack of documents, and began to read through them.

"There are still several rooms available. Let me see if I can find one for you that gets sunlight during the day. Oh, by the way..."

As if suddenly remembering something, she continued while flipping through the pages, "Someone came looking for Officer Kamiya this afternoon. I was going to tell you when you changed your dressing, but you left in such a hurry..."

"Is someone looking for me?"

Kamiya Genji stepped forward and interrupted.

Without looking up, Goto Yuri said, "Yes, I think she came here before. Judging by her age, she's definitely not from the police station... I forgot her name. I'll look for her registration information later."

As she spoke, she took out her notebook and turned to one of the pages.

Miyazawa Yuzuki's name was prominently displayed on it.

"Officer Kamiya?" Yuri Goto asked, noticing his strange expression.

"No...it's nothing."

The huge weight was finally lifted from Kamiya Gen's heart, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

When he heard the nurse say that someone had come looking for him, he had already guessed that it was probably Miyazawa. However, he remained on edge, worried that he might be mistaken again.

"I'm not staying in the hospital anymore. Ms. Goto, if that child comes to the hospital to see me again, please have her contact the police station directly."

"You're not staying again... But your injuries..." Goto Yuri hesitated.

"I'll come back tomorrow to change the dressing," Kamiya Gen said.

Goto Yuri nodded: "Alright, then I won't arrange a ward for you. Just remember to come back to change your dressing. If that girl comes to the hospital again in the meantime, I'll have her go to the police station to find you."

……

When Kamiya Gen walked out of the hospital, his steps were much lighter.

After confirming that Miyazawa Yuzuki had come to the hospital to see him, he felt as if even the wound on his shoulder didn't hurt so much anymore.

All his previous anxiety and worry vanished when he saw the name "Miyazawa Yuzuki" in the register. He raised his hand and rubbed his temples—it seemed he had been overthinking things. This guy had probably been framed and had a falling out with his family. It was really just a simple case of him running away from home.

It just so happens that the case overlaps with the one committed by Nozaki, which led to the misunderstanding on my side.

These days, communication tools are just too expensive.

If I could contact Miyazawa anytime, none of this would have happened; a simple message would have solved everything.

He went to the convenience store to buy some things to take back to his dormitory. He realized he hadn't had a proper shower in the past few days, so he decided to take a shower in the washroom first, and then rest and go to sleep.

But this wound...

Kamiya Gen looked at his shoulder and thought for a moment about how to prevent the wound from getting wet.

"Welcome!"

As I entered the convenience store, I was greeted by the clerk's hesitant greeting.

Kamiya Gen was already used to this; the Japanese have always been like this—even when they are very impatient, they still maintain a facade.

He walked around to the shelf, picked out a lot of items with his basket, and even had the leisure to find a chocolate that didn't look too commercial, intending to give it to Muheyou as a return gift sometime.

"Sir, did you just get off work?" the cashier asked as they checked out.

I guess so.

"This chocolate isn't really suitable as a return gift. You could look at the ones on this shelf..."

What's going on... Why are you trying to sell yourself in the middle of the night?

Kamiya Gen thought to himself, then waved his hand dismissively:

"No need, this is fine."

Valentine's Day in Japan is quite commercialized. Many shops start displaying Valentine's Day chocolates as early as late January, and high-end department stores even offer custom handmade chocolate services, while budget supermarkets focus on "obligation chocolate sets" to cater to different needs.

Of course, the girls can still give chocolates on February 14th as usual, but there are some rules to follow when it comes to returning the gift.

Simply returning a white chocolate is something only children do; adults need to be more selective, choosing things like candy, cookies, jewelry, or flowers.

Therefore, many adult men actually feel quite pressured by obligatory chocolates, seeing them as a social burden.

Kamiya Gen wasn't bothered by it; after all, who would feel burdened by receiving a sticky, rotten chocolate?

Muheyou should be grateful if she can give her back a decent chocolate.

If you're still being picky about this, then you're really heartless.

After paying, Kamiya Gen walked out of the store.

In a fairly good mood, I took out my walkie-talkie and contacted Muheyou.

"Understood. Is there anything I can do for Inspector Kamiya?"

"Are you handling a case? Have you brought the person to the police station?"

"Hmm... Inspector Ohno and the others have already returned to their post. I'll drive this girl back myself."

Upon hearing that she was driving, Kamiya Gen subconsciously said, "Then I'll hang up, you can take your time."

"What? Nakano is in the back carriage. You must have a lead, right? Tell me, have you found him...?"

"I think you might crash and burn," Kamiya Gen said seriously.

The signal seemed to suddenly drop, and after several seconds of silence, Muheyou's voice finally came from the other end:

"I've practiced driving diligently, and that last time was an accident..."

"Alright then, I just wanted to tell you that Miyazawa shouldn't have had any trouble, because the hospital records show that she came to see me this afternoon, but I just couldn't find her."

"That's great, I should be at the police station soon."

Muheyou's tone seemed a bit strained; one might have thought she was pushing a cart.

However, Kamiya Gen had personally witnessed how this guy turned the steering wheel, and to be honest... it was no different from pushing a millstone, so he didn't pay any attention to it.

After chatting for a few more minutes, he turned off the walkie-talkie and returned to his dormitory.

As I passed the entrance to a quiet alley, I suddenly heard people talking inside.

Kamiya Gen paused, instinctively stopping his movements.

This alley isn't exactly remote, but it's somewhat dark because of the piles of discarded cardboard boxes and miscellaneous items on both sides. The streetlights can only barely illuminate the entrance of the alley, while the deeper parts are shrouded in deep shadows.

Having a police officer's job to perform, he activated his night vision ability with a slight thought.

I immediately saw the situation inside.
