Chapter 563 - 564: Full of Excuses
"President Mo, indeed, I mishandled this matter, but if you were in my position, would you have handled it any better?" The executive was clearly defiant. "This kind of situation is impossible to manage for anyone who encounters it, and the more it’s stirred, the bigger it gets. Delaying it further would only harm Jijue, and I do want what’s best for Jijue, that’s why I came up with this solution. As long as we silence the instigator, the problem will naturally go away."
Mo Shu sneered, "That’s what you say, but did you succeed?"
The executive’s voice faltered.
"Here’s a chance for you to make amends. Go apologize to the person your bribery failed to sway, and recall all that series of leather goods. Publish an apology on Weibo, and show me the evidence that the manufacturers have submitted," Mo Shu said, his face still seething with anger. He added, "Find the person who stole the leather, at all costs!"
The executive was a middle-aged man named Zhang Wenshu.
Zhang Wenshu obviously knew that’s how it should be handled. He said, "The leather thief has long run off. If it were possible to catch them, would we still be waiting for your orders?"
Mo Shu’s eyes swept over him, "So we just let it go?"
"The thief can’t be found, the person in charge has been suspended. Whatever is lost is lost—what else can be done?"
Mo Shu scoffed, "What sort of attitude is that?"
"President Mo, I’m speaking to you civilly. You dragged me here, accusing me without any inquiry. You’re not Jijue’s person in charge, I am. In terms of hierarchy, we are equals. I see no reason why I should let you scold me like this. Besides, I’ve already handled the emergency. Criticizing me after the fact is pointless," Zhang Wenshu said, looking up with disdain in every word for Mo Shu.
Mo Shu, watching his manner, was reminded inexplicably of Gu Wenjuan that day at the police station entrance.
She too had looked up with pride, saying, "I don’t think I have anything to apologize for!"
Mo Shu chuckled lightly, "Zhang Wenshu, is it?"
Zhang Wenshu knew he had gone too far with his attitude and softened his tone a bit, "Yes."
"You disagree with what I’ve said?"
Zhang Wenshu’s demeanor was much better than before, inwardly bemoaning his predicament.
He had certainly grown too bold, speaking to his future boss like that!
Mr. Mo only had this one precious granddaughter, and wasn’t she destined to become the chairman?
Zhang Wenshu sighed, "To be honest, I’ve already considered and implemented these actions. They were useless."
"How exactly did you implement them?" Mo Shu sneered. "You didn’t apologize, you didn’t trace the origin of the issue, you only dealt with a factory manager. Do you think that was effective?"
"At least it should shut people up!"
"Did it?"
Zhang Wenshu was once again left speechless.
"It’s not that you’re incompetent, it’s that you’re not using your brain," Mo Shu scoffed. "Who promoted you to this position?"
Zhang Wenshu’s face turned red with anger, and he said furiously, "President Mo, you have to speak with a conscience. I’ve been in this position for five years and have been with Jijue for twenty years, without a single issue!"
"That’s because Jijue has a very solid foundation and has never faced such a problem," Mo Shu replied with a cold look. "Now that a real problem has arisen, have you never considered that it might be sabotage by a competitor, intending to tarnish Jijue’s century-long reputation?"
Zhang Wenshu wanted to explain, but Mo Shu interrupted him, "You haven’t investigated the source of the issue, but instead, you’ve chosen to cover your ears and steal the bell, offending customers and not repenting, only offering excuses!"
