Chapter 982 - 997: Deadly Threat
Sharapova glanced at the already dead Noski, looking rather surprised, not expecting Lin Mu to act so calmly and decisively, directly dealing a fatal blow. In fact, Sharapova should have anticipated it; with Lin Mu's abilities, Noski couldn't possibly threaten him.At this moment, Qi Manlin was the most advantageous factor in threatening Lin Mu. Her strength alone had proven ineffective against him. After several moves, Sharapova realized Lin Mu seemed much more formidable than the last time. Of course, she never intended to eliminate this powerful man through a one-on-one fight; she had her backup plan, which was to immediately control Qi Manlin.
Taking advantage of Lin Mu's move to kill Noski, Sharapova swiftly flashed forward and, within the blink of an eye, arrived in front of Qi Manlin, directly grabbing her throat.
"Damn," Lin Mu turned around, trying to stop it, but it was too late. Even in terms of speed, Lin Mu was only slightly faster than Sharapova, yet her sudden charge made it impossible for him to prevent it. Initially, the strength of the two was almost evenly matched; if Sharapova were a man, their fight would likely end in a draw.
After all, Sharapova was a woman, and women inherently have less advantage in combat than men, whether in terms of power or resilience against attacks, putting her at a disadvantage to Lin Mu. Therefore, Sharapova had to keep a trick up her sleeve. She grasped Qi Manlin's throat and leaned against her from behind!
Lin Mu turned around, glaring at Sharapova. His expression darkened. Lin Mu knew well, Sharapova was not as easy to deal with as Noski. A single fatal strike was unlikely, and it would endanger Qi Manlin.
"Let her go, and I won't kill you!" Lin Mu threatened.
"Heh, now you truly have a reason to be worried?" Sharapova chuckled, observing Lin Mu's expression. She already knew she had indeed seized his Achilles' heel.
Because Lin Mu knew, Sharapova could easily kill Qi Manlin before he acted, and Lin Mu certainly wouldn't leave Qi Manlin in danger.
"I said, let her go, and I can let you leave!" Lin Mu replied coldly.
"Heh, I've also said I want to kill you. If I can't kill you, I'll have her die with me," Sharapova said, looking at Lin Mu.
Lin Mu nodded. He didn't want Qi Manlin to get hurt. Lin Mu understood that Sharapova was now at her wit's end. If he didn't acquiesce, Qi Manlin would have no way out, and under no circumstances could he let Qi Manlin face a death threat. He had promised her she would be safe, and as a man of integrity, promises made must be kept. As a renowned Wolf Fang Special Forces King, a superpower in the Mercenary Realm, Lin Mu was even more so.
"Tell me, what do you want?" Lin Mu's voice lowered. It was the first time he compromised before an enemy's threat, unlike the North African Battlefield, where anyone threatening him would end up like Noski—swiftly dealt with, with no chance for compromise.
But now things were different; Lin Mu was no longer the invincible War God of the North African Battlefield but a career-driven man with a home and family. On the battlefield, he was unstoppable as a War God; in love, he devoted his heart entirely. Qi Manlin was one of his dearest, and now Sharapova's threat targeted her. Lin Mu couldn't afford any risks to her; he simply couldn't gamble.
"Heh, compromising?" Sharapova laughed softly.
"Stop the nonsense, let him go, and say what you want," Lin Mu's voice remained low, akin to a stormy sky about to unleash in summer, overcast and oppressive.
Sharapova glanced at Qi Manlin and then at Lin Mu, smirking coldly, "Heh, no wonder so many women are willing to follow you! Even if you have so many women already, they are still devoted without complaint. It turns out you truly are a romantic soul, unparalleled in your dedication. You could easily abandon her now, considering you have so many women—a loss of one wouldn't make a difference, would it?"
"Heh, if I were the sort of person who saw women as mere playthings, I would have abandoned her long ago. And you, you would likely have died by my hand when I first learned your identity. The reason for such a delay was merely due to my interest in you, nothing more; hence, I didn't want to kill you. Now, it seems that interest was unnecessary!" Lin Mu laughed at himself.
Sharapova looked at Lin Mu, "Heh, what thoughts do you have about me?"
"Shameless!" Sharapova suddenly shouted, "Aren't you willing to do anything for your woman? Aren't you deeply devoted? Very well, let's see if your devotion is genuine!"
"Just tell me what you want, then let go of your hand. At such close range, with her abilities, she can't escape, nor can I save her, and you know it!" Lin Mu pointed at Sharapova's hand gripping Qi Manlin's throat.
Sharapova glanced at Qi Manlin and then released her hand, "You better behave, don't try anything funny, or I'll give you a fatal blow without a chance for survival!"
"Sharapova, you can't escape. I advise you to surrender!" Qi Manlin glared at Sharapova, speaking firmly, with all her previous fear now gone.
"Surrender? Are you joking with me? In my situation, do you really think surrendering offers a way out?" Sharapova laughed, "My aim is to eliminate you all!"
"Girl, let's cut the crap, just say what you want!" Lin Mu had no desire for further talk; his only thought now was to save the Chief Police Officer.
Sharapova pointed to a dagger on the ground, "I'll give you a chance, pick up that dagger and stab it into your thigh. Do as I say!"
Without hesitation, Lin Mu glanced at the dagger on the floor. With a flick of his toe, the dagger landed in Lin Mu's hand.
Qi Manlin glanced at Lin Mu, her face full of worry, "Bastard, don't listen to her, don't!"
"Wild Girl, I don't want to listen to her either, but if I don't, you won't survive. If you don't survive, guess you won't be found again! I haven't gotten enough of you, so I can't let anything happen to you!" Lin Mu smiled at Qi Manlin.
