Chapter 904 900
Chapter 904 900
Note: nine hundred chaters... That is a lot of chapters !!!
Also, I was thinking of calling the Reverse World the Inner World as well. What do you all think?
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for sticking by and I hope you enjoy the chapter!
-----------------
This was only the edge of the Dark Continent—yet even a beach like this already held danger at such a high level. The Dark Continent truly was perilous. Ordinary humans simply couldn't survive here.
To be honest, Ron couldn't quite understand why ordinary people would still board the Black Whale and come here, fully aware of the dangers. If it were people from the human world who had no other options left, Ron could understand.
But in reality, at least those on the second tier of the ship were individuals with considerable power and status in human society. They had no real hardships in life. Even those on the lower tiers weren't exactly the bottom of society. The true lowest class of humanity couldn't even get a ticket.
"One could only say… their greed blinded them to the danger. Or maybe they just think they'll be the lucky ones."
Ron looked toward Ponzu. "Ponzu, it's up to you next."
"Yes, Captain."
When entering an unfamiliar area, the first priority was gathering intel. Before the army moves, the scouts go first. For Ron's team, supplies weren't a concern. This was where the value of bringing Ponzu truly showed. Ron was strong in direct combat, but not skilled at reconnaissance—this was where Ponzu excelled.
Her bees were small, numerous, capable of flight, and could navigate even the most complex terrain. Their physical bodies could also serve as danger probes. If one died, it meant danger was present. The presence of these bees greatly reduced the risk Ron and his group had to face.
Ron and the others arrived at the border between the beach and the forest.
"En."
Ron expanded his En—not at full capacity, just a partial one, enough not to tax his reserves. His natural Nen regeneration could cover the output.
The bees returned with a wealth of information.
Giant frog-like creatures lurking in the marshes.
Snakelike camouflage predators coiled high in the trees.
Mantis-like insects with wings sharp as steel blades…
All of them were larger than alephans at a minimum.
Ron took out a branch—one from the Little World Tree.
Even before he stabilized it, the branch pointed in a specific direction. No matter how he moved, it always aligned the same way. He had tried using it while still at sea with no results, but now, on land, it finally responded.
This proved that Ging Freecss hadn't lied. Ron believed this would be of great help in the future. In such an unfamiliar region, having something that could point the way was invaluable.
A large number of bees were released again. Ron's goal was clear: search for treasures or an Inner World. Only those two things held his interest.
Unlike others who came to the Dark Continent out of curiosity, Ron came here to grow stronger—by acquiring Ascension Relics to obtain Sequence-level power and rise to a higher tier of existence.
Chii stood nearby, compiling and organizing the data the bees brought back into a complete map. Following that map would make navigation much more efficient.
Until they found a suitable target, Ron and the others didn't take a single step forward. Even Misty held back her curiosity.
Ten days passed.
"Captain~"
"Ponzu. What did you find?"
"In the northeast, the bees discovered a particularly unusual area."
"How far?"
"About three hundred kilometers."
That distance was already beyond the effective range of Ponzu's bee radar, but the bees still made it. The fact that they didn't return—and yet Ponzu received partial data—meant that particular bee had died. That alone indicated danger.
"Chii, display the map."
A screen appeared in Ron's hand. The surrounding terrain was now clearly mapped, including marked points of interest and Chii's estimated threat levels for the creatures encountered—based on comparisons with known Nen-user strength levels.
Most of the path ahead was B-rank and above.
"But it's not overly dangerous."
Ron turned to Misty and Machi. "Misty. Machi. It's up to you now."
He handed them a printed section of the map, with a red line traced across it—Chii's suggested route. Ron had decided to let them take point.
On one hand, it allowed the team to contribute. On the other, this was a good opportunity for Misty and Machi to gain experience. Here in the Dark Continent, A-rank alone wasn't enough.
Unlike Ponzu, Misty and Machi would have to rely on their own strength to one day reach S-rank. And it wouldn't be something achieved with a small effort—it would take much more.
"Yes, Captain."
"Got it, big brother."
The two exchanged glances and moved forward.
Misty's aura shifted. She leapt ahead.
A black blur lunged from the undergrowth—treating Misty like prey. It was a mammal-like beast, though its form was nothing like the mammals of the human world. Its aura already reached A-rank.
Its entire body was jet-black, exuding a foul, burnt stench.
Machi raised her hand. Her Nen threads extended, wrapping around the black beast before it could reach Misty. The creature struggled, and the threads sank into its flesh. The intense pain made it let out a guttural scream.
The next moment—
Clang!
A metallic clash rang out. The beast slashed with its claws, cutting through the Nen threads.
This exceeded Machi's expectations. Her threads were far tougher than they had been in the human world—yet the beast severed them easily. That alone showed how sharp its claws were.
White flames ignited across Misty's body.
Machi sent out more threads—different from before. These were focused not on resilience, but piercing power and impact. Though still Nen threads, calling them Nen blades might be more accurate.
This ability reminded Ron of the Zanpakuto used by Gin Ichimaru in the world of the Soul Reapers. The execution felt similar.
Puchi!
The thread-blade pierced into the black beast's body.
Misty moved behind it and struck with a fist.
Bang!
The beast was sent flying.
But as it hit the ground, Ron felt something strange.
Just as Misty and Machi were about to pursue it, Ron stopped them.
"Stop."
