Fated:
Fated:
[POV: Aria]
Hayden stood inches from me, his chest rising and falling with barely contained restraint, his eyes fixed on mine like I was both his salvation and the edge of a cliff.
There was no demand in his gaze, no arrogance, no pressure. Just… waiting.
My heart thudded so loud it drowned out the forest around us. I could still feel the echo of his words — Then why do you taste like fate? — like they were etched along my skin.
I stared at him, trying to make sense of the chaos inside me. But there was no logic left. Only the aching thrum in my chest, the way the whole world narrowed down to this moment—this man.
My hand lifted slowly, trembling slightly, and found the solid curve of his chest. His heart pounding beneath my palm—strong, steady, and wild.
Like him. Like us.
The second I touched him, his breath hitched. And then he closed the distance.
His lips brushed mine. A reverent touch, aching whisper of a kiss. Like a question. As if he were giving me one last chance to stop him.
I didn’t. Couldn’t. Instead, I leaned in, parting my lips just enough for him to understand what I needed.
The kiss deepened slowly, tender at first. His mouth moved over mine like he was memorizing every curve, every breath, with the kind of tenderness I didn’t know he possessed. Every inch of his body was tight, trembling with restraint. I could feel it in his grip on my waist, in the way he kissed me like I was made of something breakable.
It shattered me. Because I didn’t want it to be soft. Not now. Not with him.
I wanted the fire I’d seen in his eyes when he stepped out of the shadows. The storm in his voice after he saw the kiss. The wolf who stalked me like I was his only truth.
The man who called me ‘mine’—and meant it.
A sound tore from my throat—half whimper, half growl—and I grabbed the front of his shirt, twisting it in my fists as I pulled him closer.
His breath caught, harsh and raw, and suddenly his hands were everywhere.
Bolder. Rougher.
One slid up my spine, fingers splayed wide, holding me like he didn’t trust the ground beneath him. The other curved around the back of my neck, tilting my head, deepening the kiss until I couldn’t think, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t be without him.
We crashed together like a storm meeting flame—wild, uncontrollable, inevitable.
When he pulled back, just enough to breathe, his forehead dropped to mine. His voice came out hoarse, wrecked.
“You ruin me,” he whispered, his lips brushing mine even as he spoke. “I can’t think when you’re near.”
“Then don’t think,” I breathed, dragging him back to me.
He kissed me again, harder this time. His mouth crushed mine, desperation unraveling between us like a thread pulled too tight.
Another breathless pause. Another kiss to the corner of my mouth.
“Tell me you feel this too.”
My chest ached. I could barely speak, barely breathe.
“I do,” I whispered against him.
“I’ll wait forever if I have to,” he rasped, words broken by kisses to my jaw, my neck. “But Goddess, Aria...”
His mouth returned to mine like gravity pulling him back home.
“I need you.”
I gasped into him, my whole body burning, my soul howling. Because it wasn’t just lust. The bond. The pull. I felt it in every brush of skin, every tangled breath.
This was fate clawing its way to the surface.
His hand tangled in my hair, the other sliding around my hip, hauling me against him until there was nothing left between us but heat and breath. And the terrifying, beautiful truth.
He wasn’t just my Alpha.
“This is it,” Yoka whispered inside me, quiet but certain. “He’s the one.”
My heart clenched, so full it hurt. I pulled back just enough to look into his eyes—those eyes I saw when I closed mine at night, the ones that haunted my dreams and soothed my fears.
His forehead rested against mine, both of us breathless.
“I’ve never wanted anything like I want you,” he said, voice hoarse with everything he was trying to hold back.
I reached up and cradled his jaw, my thumb grazing the sharp line of his cheek. He leaned into the touch like it anchored him.
“I know,” I whispered, unable to lie anymore. “I feel it too.”
His breath trembled.
And then he kissed me again—his mouth claimed mine, our bodies molded tight, and I drowned in him. In us.
In the bond that was already fusing our souls together.
My mate.
