The Slacker Witch’s Survival Rules for Her Second

Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Chapter 28:  Are You Sure That Hat of Yours Is Proper?

“I have some items and materials here,” Lina said as she skillfully pulled out a recycling list form from beside the adjustable table and listed the items she intended to sell one by one. “Mainly these.”

After filling out the form, Lina pressed the button beside the table. A pleasant sound of gears meshing came from below as the tabletop descended and moved behind the counter.

A minute later, the table moved back in front of Lina, and an appraisal sheet had appeared on it.

Stone-armored boar hide armor, Cave Lurker limbs and venom glands, Demon Shadow Wolf fur, fangs, and magic core, plus those mid-tier antidote potions… the buyback price ranged between 20 to 40 gold dragons, which was very reasonable.

Unfortunately, the teleportation crystals were fake; otherwise, each one would have fetched five gold dragons.

Lina took out all the items and materials from her storage ring and placed them on the table one by one.

The items were moved to the back. About three minutes later, the clerk behind the counter sent Lina another confirmation slip through the adjustable table.

“Here is our offer. Please confirm that everything is correct and sign your witch name at the lower right corner.”

The potions were of good quality, each priced at 5 silver lions for buyback. There were 20 bottles, totaling 10 gold dragons. The monster materials were priced differently depending on condition and damage; together they amounted to 36 gold dragons and 4 silver lions, already a fairly good offer.

Lina signed “Slacker Witch” on the confirmation slip and handed it to the clerk. Half a minute later, the processed voice sounded again: “Lady Slacker Witch, which payment method would you prefer? Cash or bank account?”

“Cash.” Lina suddenly realized she had never used the original owner’s bank account.

That girl had opened the account only to pay tuition fees, and there hadn’t been a single coin left in it. Later, to avoid paying annual fees for nothing, she simply closed the account.

Looks like she would have to get a new bank card later. Investment and financial management were skills one had to master for a prosperous life!

After receiving the money, Lina walked out of the recycling counter and saw Annie curiously examining the wands in the display case.

“Annie, over here!” Lina waved at Annie and generously took out a small pouch of coins. “There are 18 gold dragons and 2 silver lions in here—half of the buyback price!”

Annie hesitated, glanced at Lina’s expression, and still obediently accepted the pouch.

Although Lina lived frugally and sometimes liked to take small advantages, she was clearer about principles than anyone when it came to matters like this—Annie knew that very well.

Lina checked her wallet: 150 gold dragons, 7 silver lions, and 3 copper deer.

It looked like a lot, but once she walked out of this shop… it was hard to say how much would remain.

“Boss, I’d like to take a look at those witch hats over there!” Lina smiled at the purple-haired witch behind the counter.

“Of course,” the purple-haired witch led Lina to the display case of witch hats and explained them one by one. “The bottom row is academy witch hats suitable for apprentice witches. Since you are a formal witch, I won’t go into detail.”

“The row on the left consists of standard witch hats that match the witch outfit you’re wearing. The price is uniformly between 20 and 30 gold dragons.”

“The row on the right is an improved version of the standard witch hats. In addition to the original effects, they also have some added blessing effects. Prices range from 30 to 50 gold dragons.”

“The two at the very top are crafted by the Alice Dream Workshop under the group. They possess more blessings and special effects, priced between 100 and 200 gold dragons.”

Lina nodded and pointed at the hat on the upper right. “Let me see that one!”

The purple-haired witch snapped her fingers lightly. The hat, adorned with an exaggerated purple bow and embroidered with bauhinia patterns, was gently lifted by an invisible force and delivered in front of Lina.

Alice Dream Workshop, one of the signature brands of the Cavendish family, specialized in crafting high-end magical equipment and was deeply favored by witches above B-rank.

Lina’s fingertips lightly brushed over the hat’s edge. The fabric felt thin yet resilient, and she couldn’t help but inwardly praise it.

“This hat was crafted by Master Havernis. The inner lining uses ice silk from polar ice silkworms, granting extremely high magic resistance. It feels silky smooth, and wearing it in summer is especially comfortable and cool.”

“The frame of the hat is woven from fibers of Primordial Forest wood. Even an ordinary magic-guided rifle would have difficulty penetrating it.”

“The bow may look decorative, but inside it actually contains blessings that enhance all attributes of magic power and reduce magic consumption. It is both beautiful and practical.”

“The original price of this hat was 230 gold dragons. The current price is 190 gold dragons.”

Lina nodded repeatedly as she listened. On the inner side of the hat, she also saw the signature of its creator, Havernis.

She gently placed her hand above the witch hat and silently recited in her mind: Display attributes.

A line of text appeared in her mind:

【Forest Sea Rosy Clouds】 (Quality: Fine)

Magic Defense +200 Physical Defense +50 Magic Consumption -30% Magic Damage +30% (Set Effect: Not Activated)

“Mm, I’d also like to take a look at that one,” Lina said, returning the expensive witch hat to the shop owner and pointing at the light-purple beret on the upper right.

After the magitech revolution, technical-type witches often complained that wide brims got in the way when drawing magic circuit blueprints or assembling magical devices. As a result, this kind of non-traditional witch hat came into being.

“This hat was designed by Master Renydel. She won the gold prize in the previous International Witch Fashion Design Competition and is a very well-known designer,” the purple-haired witch smiled. “The original price of this hat was 800 gold dragons, but due to some special reasons, it is now only 150 gold dragons.”

Good grief, that’s a massive markdown.

Lina muttered inwardly as she took the hat.

The feeling in her hands was completely different from what she had expected.

The light-purple material was not ordinary felt, but a luxurious fabric called “Twilight Velvet.” It felt cool and smooth like a stream under moonlight. As her fingertips brushed across it, subtle ripples of luster flowed over the surface.

The shape of the hat was not a simple flat round. Through precise tailoring and a concealed internal frame, the body of the hat formed an elegant, structured arc, with finely hand-stitched ribbing along the edges.

On one side of the hat was a minimalist yet highly designed emblem. It was made of mithril, shaped into intertwined wand and gear patterns.

At the center of the emblem was a “Moonlight Stone,” no larger than a quarter of a pinky fingernail. It did not emit dazzling light; instead, a soft, steady glow flowed within it like breathing, as if a sliver of living moonlight had been sealed inside.

However, after examining it for quite a while, Lina couldn’t find any “practical value” in the hat at all.

She couldn’t help but glance at the shop owner. “Uh… maybe you could introduce it?”

“This hat… it looks very nice.”

“…That’s it?”

“You will definitely look very good wearing it.”

“I mean… doesn’t this hat have any special effects? Like… blessings or protections or something?”

“No…” The shop owner rubbed her forehead. “That’s exactly what I was trying to say… a design flaw. After Miss Renydel completed the overall structure of the hat, she realized she had forgotten to engrave any blessings or protective enchantments—but by then, she had already used up all her production funds…”

She silently checked the item’s attributes:

【Moonlit Clear Dream】 (Quality: Fine) Effect: None (No Set)

“Uh… so this hat… is just for looks?” Lina complained inwardly about this never-before-seen design master. This lady really was something—like spending ninety-nine cents out of a dollar on wrappers for dumplings, only to realize after making them that there was no filling inside…

“Uh… yes…” The purple-haired witch awkwardly turned her head away. “But the materials used are still very solid… 150 gold dragons is basically just the cost price…”

Lina rolled her eyes. With her current financial situation, she wasn’t about to spend 150 gold dragons on an “art piece” that was only good for looking pretty.

“Forget it, forget it. Just pick a cheaper hat for me,” Lina hesitated for a long time but ultimately decided to be frugal. Besides the hat, she still had other things to buy.

“Ah, right,” the shop owner suddenly said, as if remembering something. “I also have a rather special witch hat here… would you be interested in taking a look?”

“Special?” Lina raised an eyebrow. Her first instinct was that this was some kind of sales trap, but considering the good reputation of the Arcane Heart Chain Store, she suppressed her suspicion. “How special?”

“Please follow me to the special item vault on the second floor. That hat is sealed there…”
