Chapter 505 - 450: I do not agree to this marriage

Chapter 505 - 450: I do not agree to this marriage

Aus City.Qiao San spent the day in a state of unease, fearing that Zhuo Yao would explode in rage if he learned about Bai Chengxi’s incident. Fortunately, he had been too busy with work to pay attention to any entertainment news.

After a day of trepidation, and having had dinner, Qiao San was just about to call Zhuo Yuqing to ask about the situation when Zhuo Yao came back suddenly.

Seeing the look on his face, Qiao San knew something was wrong. As expected, it’s impossible to hide what’s bound to be revealed. The inevitable could not be avoided.

"Qiao Xiao’er." When Zhuo Yao was angry, he would call her by her childhood nickname, a habit that remained despite the years and their child having grown up, "Did you know about it already?"

Qiao San immediately felt guilty, unsure of how exactly he had come to know the news.

"Did you... did you watch the news?" Qiao San asked in a gently appeasing tone as she helped him off with his coat.

"Don’t even mention that news, it’s infuriating, nothing but nonsense," Zhuo Yao said, taking the glass of water Qiao San handed him and gulping it down, "This Bai Chengxi, assured me with such conviction last time, and now shortly after returning he causes trouble; I think this kid is asking for it."

"Calm down first." Qiao San took the glass from him, "I’ve already called Qingzi this morning?"

"What did she say? Is she upset? Tell her to come home, I’ll deal with that Bai surname brat. Daring to bully my Zhuo Yao’s daughter, he’s really courting death," Zhuo Yao hadn’t been this angry in a long time, his eyes blazing like stars, flames of anger rising from their depths, "If it wasn’t for Zhuo Yan’s call, I wouldn’t have known such a big issue had occurred."

Qiao San frowned slightly; while she had been carefully concealing the matter on her end, her precious son had been leaking information on the other. She was not pleased with Zhuo Yan’s teaching – once he returned, she’d have to deal with him.

What Qiao San needed to do now was to pacify Zhuo Yao, or with his fiery temper and protective nature, he might create a huge commotion.

Sitting down next to her husband, Qiao San took his hand and gently rubbed it in hers: "Is it that cold outside?"

Zhuo Yao glanced at her and, influenced by her ingratiating smile, felt his anger gradually subside, "Don’t you make excuses for that Bai surname kid. I won’t let today’s matter slide."

"Oh dear, you’re getting angry without even knowing the facts. This morning, Qingzi called, admitting that Chengxi had already confessed the situation with his ex-girlfriend and Chengxi promised her he will handle it properly."

"I always say these entertainment circle folks can’t be trusted, surrounded by romantic rumors. Look, I was right, weren’t I? What did the internet say? Known each other for twenty years, even lived together – and our Qingzi, innocent and pure, she’s never even had a boyfriend, naive and kind-hearted. She’ll be tricked and played by that Bai surname brat." The angrier Zhuo Yao got, the more he rose from the sofa, "No, I must go to Aus City. I want to bring Qingzi back. I do not approve of this marriage engagement. While they are not yet married, there’s still a chance to turn things around; I can’t let my daughter suffer in the future."

"Oh dear, husband, don’t be impulsive," Qiao San immediately followed after him, "We could wait for Chengxi’s solution before going."

"No way," Zhuo Yao stood his ground stubbornly, and Qiao San couldn’t hold him back. She knew that if Zhuo Yao really went to Aus City, the situation would only get worse. By then, nobody could stop him; he was determined to bring his daughter back.

Just as Qiao San was about to call for help from several Zhuo Family brothers, Zhuo Yao, who had just opened the door, stopped in the doorway.

Qiao San, puzzled, put down the phone and walked over, following Zhuo Yao’s gaze, she saw Bai Chengxi standing there wearing only a thin black coat, his ears red from the cold.

Aus City’s winter was not like Aus City’s; it was particularly cold. Everyone walking by wore either cashmere jackets or down coats, all in a hurry, while Bai Chengxi, who came in a rush from Aus City, didn’t have the time to change into thicker clothes, having been frozen through after leaving the airport.

"Chengxi." Qiao San exclaimed in surprise. She hadn’t expected Bai Chengxi to visit suddenly, but this was a good turn of events. Unlike Zhuo Yao’s rage, Qiao San, while displeased with Bai Chengxi, was more rational. She believed in her daughter and so trusted her son-in-law.

"Chengxi, come in, it’s cold outside," Qiao San hurriedly ushered him in, but like a stone statue, Zhuo Yao blocked the doorway without any intention of moving aside. Qiao San tugged on the hem of his clothing from behind, but he remained immovably still.
