Chapter 935 - 950: I Wasn’t Acting Petulant with Him
After changing her clothes, Manman went to the dressing table to do her makeup before heading downstairs for breakfast.Feng Yi also came downstairs after changing his clothes. He pulled out a chair and sat next to Manman, "Let’s go out for dinner tonight."
"Okay," Manman nodded in agreement.
Feng Yi smiled and placed a soup dumpling on Manman’s plate, "Eat more."
Manman disdainfully moved the dumpling away, "If I eat any more, I’ll become a fatty."
"I’ll work out with you tonight, sweat it out, and you definitely won’t get fat."
Aunt Li, who was nearby, blushed and quickly went into the kitchen. She didn’t expect Mr. Feng to win over his wife so quickly. Clearly, Aunt Li misunderstood Feng Yi’s words.
After breakfast, Feng Yi drove to work at the company.
Manman went back to the Li Family’s old house. As soon as she entered, Xu Lan complained that it had been ages since she last visited and called her a heartless little creature.
"Mom, I’ve just been really busy lately, which is why I haven’t come to see you and Dad."
Manman didn’t dare to tell Xu Lan about what happened in the United States, fearing she’d worry. She sat down on the living room sofa, leaned over the coffee table, and forked a piece of dragon fruit into her mouth.
"What could you possibly be busy with? You don’t even have a job, just sticking to that Feng Yi all day long." Xu Lan smiled as she handed a peeled segment of tangerine to Manman, "This tangerine is super sweet, airfreighted from the United States by your Uncle Wang."
Manman took the tangerine and put it in her mouth, speaking with a look of disdain, "When have I ever stuck to him? It’s like you’re saying I have no backbone."
"Well, you really don’t have much backbone when it comes to Feng Yi. But thankfully, Feng Yi truly cares about you, and your dad and I both like him a lot. I’m telling you, don’t go throwing tantrums at Feng Yi, got it?"
Manman now severely doubts that everyone around her has been bought off by Feng Yi. It’s one thing that Chu Ci and Han Xi speak up for him, but now even her own mom is on his side.
"When did I ever throw a tantrum at him? Are you still really my mom? Why are you siding with him?"
Xu Lan raised her hand and gently poked Manman’s forehead, "People say a son-in-law is like half a son. How can that be considered siding with him?"
"Fine, fine, he’s your son, and I’m your daughter-in-law, okay?"
"Silly girl. Oh, by the way, are you staying for lunch at home today?"
Manman hugged a cushion to her chest, "I’ll eat at home. Have the kitchen make more of my favorites."
"You go watch some TV for a while. I’ll call your dad and ask him to come home for lunch too," said Xu Lan as she headed upstairs.
Manman leaned over the coffee table, picked up the remote, and randomly found a variety show to watch.
After Xu Lan called Li Shitian, she joined Aunt Li in the kitchen to help prepare the ingredients.
Li Shitian came home early, even before lunch break, and lunch was already prepared in the dining room—a table full of dishes that Manman usually loves to eat.
Li Shitian sat at the dining table and picked up a crab to place it on Manman’s plate, "Why didn’t Feng Yi come back with you?"
"He’s a bit busy with work, seems like he’s got a lunch engagement," Manman made up an excuse.
"Dad is getting older, and managing the company is becoming more challenging. Tell Feng Yi to take over the company soon, so I can retire early and enjoy some quality time at home with your mom."
