Chapter 922 - 937: Dreaming of Becoming Mrs. Tong
"It turns out he has liked me all these years. There aren’t many men like this left, right? It’s just a pity he didn’t confess to me when we were in college. Otherwise, I might very well have been Mrs. Tong by now."Manman said jokingly, offhandedly.
Feng Yi stood behind Manman with his hands in his pockets, his face darkening like coal. He had just come here to talk business with a client and stopped by to eat.
He didn’t expect to come in and hear this girl dreaming about becoming Mrs. Tong.
Han Xi was sitting across from Manman and happened to see Feng Yi when she looked up, instinctively giving a small cough, "Feng Yi, why are you here?"
"I just happened to come here for a meal with my client."
Hearing his voice, Manman’s body visibly stiffened. Surely Feng Yi heard what she just said, right?
Tong Ze, coming out of the restroom, saw Feng Yi and his handsome, indifferent face showed no sign of a ripple. He naturally pulled out a chair and sat down next to Manman.
Feng Yi struggled to control his emotions, withdrawing his hands from his pockets with a sullen face, and snapped his fingers at a nearby waiter, "Another set of tableware here."
"Yes, sir. One moment, please."
Chu Ci, sitting next to Manman, sensibly gave up his spot for Feng Yi. Now the girl was between Tong Ze on one side and Feng Yi on the other; sitting between them couldn’t have been a simple feeling.
Manman’s fingers twisted unconsciously on the table, internally fretting whether Feng Yi heard what she had just said.
Until the waiter served the dishes, Feng Yi hadn’t spoken, sitting there with a cold expression.
Tong Ze remained calm and unperturbed, not maintaining any distance from Manman due to Feng Yi’s presence. He picked up the chopsticks from the table, leaned forward, and placed some food on Manman’s plate, "These are all things you like, eat more."
"Thank you."
Manman replied somewhat awkwardly, her peripheral vision unconsciously falling on Feng Yi, whose face was indescribably dark.
In an attempt to ease the atmosphere, Han Xi smiled and spoke, "I wonder how Yan Xiao and Mu Yan are doing? We haven’t contacted them since they got back."
"I think they are quite suited for each other. Let’s find a time to meet with Yan Xiao and have a good chat."
Chu Ci cooperatively chimed in, but Feng Yi and Tong Ze completely ignored them, and the atmosphere remained at a freezing point.
Manman was about to pinch herself to death; this meal was truly inedible. She put down her chopsticks, picked up her bag, and stood up from her seat, "I suddenly have a bit of a headache, I’ll head back."
Han Xi and Chu Ci didn’t stop her; in such an atmosphere, even finishing a meal would’ve made one’s stomach uncomfortable, right?
"I’ll take you home," Tong Ze also stood up.
"No need, I drove here myself. You can just give Han Xi and Chu Ci a ride back later."
After speaking, Manman walked toward the restaurant’s exit. Feng Yi, with one hand in his pocket, followed behind, not exchanging a single word as they exited. They got into their own cars, Manman drove onto the main road, and Feng Yi’s car followed closely behind.
Once she got home, Manman silently took off her shoes at the entrance, changed into slippers, and then went upstairs to the master bedroom.
Feng Yi didn’t follow her. He strode into the kitchen, picked up an apron and tied it around himself, rolling the sleeves of his shirt up to his elbows. Earlier at the restaurant, Manman hadn’t eaten anything at all, and Feng Yi was worried she might be hungry, so he planned to make her a bowl of noodles.
